AMEX CLI Button Missing?

American Express CLI

I am wondering where the credit limit increase button is on American Express? I could find it before and can't find it on two separate accounts.

I kind of assumed they were done with me. I had 22400 which was what I thought was the end since I can't find an increase limit button anymore. However I logged in yesterday and noticed my available credit was higher so I checked and they gave me a 6700 increase.

Super happy with the increase cause I always like to see my credit improve,  I would like to know if they still offer credit increases by request  though and if so where the button is?

Re: American Express CLI

The button has been missing for quite some time--there's a thread about it around here. As I recall, there's a workaround link in that thread....maybe someone can dig it up. EDIT: see if this works for you -- https://global.americanexpress.com/lending/line-increase/request

Anyway, it's not just you! It's a glitch. I thought they'd have it fixed by now.

Congratulations on your nice auto-CLI, too! Smiley Happy

Re: American Express CLI

So if we follow that link and are given the option for a CLI are we eligible to request one? From my calendar I believe I'm a week short of 6mo. But it's giving me the option to request. I'm too nervous to ask before the 6mo. mark though.

@Eyepinpools - yes, this is the current method for requesting them, well the shortcut/hack, anyway. If you look around your AENB account profile and you don't see the menu option to request one, then the above method can be used.

Though, I would hold off until you have reached the full 181 days from your last CLI for best results. Keep in mind, the above link(s) may not allow you to do the "back out" option or you'll get a site error.

o/t -- I've always gotten a kick out of your username 😂 cuz I'm glad I'm ....errrr...carry on 💀

Re: Can't request an American express credit limit increase?

@Remedios i just got hit with this after going from 45K to 50K in what would be my usual 5K increase every 6 months. What happened to you, did you get approved?

On the screen it showed to me that i could link my bank account or provide bank statements, it is the first time i have seen from amex such documentation. I do not want to link my bank account unless its pretty much necessary for a card approval that i want badly or something akin to that.

I received an email that said:

  • Give us one-time digital access to your bank account(s) or
  • Upload PDF statements downloaded directly from your bank account(s).

I do not wish to do that as i barely get some deposits in my bank account. I think i will leave it expire and forget about the cli. In the email it said: You’ll need to provide us this information by XXXX, 2022. If we don’t receive it by then, we may close your request.

I think this just means to close the cli request and don't close my amex account. Has anyone gone in this new process just let it expire the request and don't do anything about it? I understand per common sense that is optional as I'm in a CLI. If anyone with experience can chime in.

I did get the increase but it wasn't a fast process, took about a week. I uploaded three consecutive statements, waited (this was more of a science experiment), then I got email stating I had secure message.

Message said $10,000 increase is approved but no additional increases will be granted based on this IV due to low use on the card

Limit was $55,000.00, before the request, typical use around $3000 per month, so I think their reasoning is sound.

So, I can ask again in six months, and while I had no intentions of doing it, I'm going to just to see if it prompts another IV (CLI should be denied, I have no intentions of increasing spend on Delta Reserve).

If you decide not to go through IV, your limit should remain the same, but unless you wait a really long time to ask again (and spend more), I believe they will ask again.

Thanks Remedios! It seems to be they are now manually checking CLI from a set limit threshold. I am not inclined then to further pursue a cli on this card anytime soon as, as you i spend very little on my Hilton card given my CL. In fact is worse, I think i only charge around $500-1000 a month on my card.

Thanks for making the experiment! I'm glad that you got approved despite the bitter ending. $65K is a great line and at least they aproved you. I wanted my card to end in an even round number like 50K... but oh well.... we'll see.. maybe in the future i can transfer from a new line to this one or after many months obtain some kind of increase (though i dont hold any hopes, and i'm ok with the limit i've been given). We'll keep in touch after 6 months time to see what has happened. Thanks for pointing out is not an easy process anymore the cli and that is more slow, like a case by case basis i suppose. I don't even have ITIN or SSN, so i further don't want to call attention on my profile.

Thanks for the reply Smiley Very Happy
