call em up! they are friendly and if denied you keep them on the phone and ask advice on when to app or what you should to to get this card because you really will use it... blah... blah. then they might reconsider then or you can feel out what to say to the next CS when you hang up and call back for recon #2(if required).
good luck!!

Ha..ha.. oK. Let us know...
ok...
Amazon 800-634-8380 was not available in my service area.. should I call Chase?
Barclays 888-232-0780 wouldnt allow me past checking the status so I called 866-408-4064, the analyst and a very nice lady interogated me. She told me I was declined but if I answer a few questions we'll see what we can do. Unfourtunately, my answers werent good enough to make up for my too new credit card history. She said I need to keep doing good and reapply when I have a solid CC & payment history. My Fingerhut account (opened in 2013) wasnt good enough due to the 59% utilization. I liked that she acknowledged my credit improvement. It's ok...I survived the first denial. On to the next one.
Called Wells Fargo 800-967-9521 and got a denial due to poor maintenance of a previous account....I immediately called customer service to dispute that. My identity was stolen in 2009 & that was not my account. Wells Fargo cleared me and I have a current banking account with them. The customer service agent updated the info and resubmitted the application. If I get denied it better be due to something I did not somebody else. So now I wait.

Chase pulled me twice. TU and Ex. So does that mean I'm borderline? Is that a good sign?

@Called chase recon @ 888-270-2127. Nice lady...said application was stopped & declined because Eq had the alert showing but didnt give my phone #. So I have to call Eq to give my #...again, then call Chase back so they can resume. They will have to do a soft pull & call me back to verify.
Tried to unfreeze my EXP today so I could get a report, but Experian decided it was a holiday for them.. Online never works for EX/EQ for me for whatever reason nor does the automated phone system. It literally takes me 30 mins ot unfreeze and CR if I need it temporary lifted and they are closed? Grr... So long story short, EQ could be closed as well today OP.

@Anonymous,
For me, lifting a freeze online with those 2 is just a nightmare...
