Hello Everyone,
I just had a quick question. I submitted an application for the AmEx green charge card on the 27th. I was declined that day but called in for a recon. The application status has been showing pending since then. The anticipation is killing me. Does anyone have experience with how much longer it might be? I would love to hear some stories of successful AmEx recons too. Anything to help pass the time while I wait to see what the answer is
Just for reference I was approved for the fallowing cards during this app spree
Chase South West RR Visa 2k
Barclay Arival 2.5k
StateFarm Bank Rewards Visa 3k
Wellsfargo Propel AmEx 1k
Cap one CLI on Quick Silver One from $750 to $1750
Sorry to say you won't see many recon success stories unless something was wrong on CR's at time of app
It's very rare for Amex to overturn a denial
Usually it still comes at the price of another HP which makes the 2nd denial even worst
Hopefully your case is different ....Good luck

Wow interesting, I didn't know that. I guess I will just have to wait and see. I should have waited a little longer for my application. My score has jumped about 20 points from the original application date due to new balances reporting. Hopefully that will be enough to work in my favor if they do pull another report.

No doubt they'll pull again ....sorry just being honest
Do you know why it was denied 1st time ....due to scores, baddies etc etc?
Yes, no recons I know of. It's just an excuse to say no. Sorry. They do or don't right there unless they cannot verify all of your info. I can't say if they allow any baddies. I just figured they wanted a clean record. Hope I'm wrong.

I didn't get an official letter yet about the first denial. So I don't know for sure but I can tell you that I have 1 degro reporting on 2 CRA's and 2 reporting on the other. I recently paid all cards down to $0 balance and saw a huge point boost. I got a little excited and applied before all of the cards reported a $0 balance. The one baddie reporting on all 3 CRA's is a state tax lien for around 1k that was reported in October 2014 The other is a Sprint phone collection for $300.
Now I'm not sure if its scores or possibly AmEx just doesn't work with a lien reporting. I guess I will just have to wait and see.
Do you think it would be a good idea to give them a call and see if I can speak to a UW to see if I can plead my case?

My 1st Amex years ago was with a 10k paid fed tax lien so that won't stop an approval
I would just ride it out from here and hope for the best because Amex has no sympathetic ears ....just policy that they follow to the T
Good luck
I called to do a recon last Friday on my Hilton Hhonors declined app. Yesterday I was approved. I don't know if their less stringent on their co branded cards but my recon worked.

Did you actually get to speak with anyone? When I called to recon I just got a rep who said they would submit it for recon. I didn't get to talk to a credit analyst or anything. My app did update to "in progress" but no word yet.

Only spoke with a new accounts rep. I was honest and just told him that I felt my app needed a second look since I felt my app was just auto declined once the 5 days had passed from the Delta app, which for that one I was approved instantly. Rep told me he would submit it to a Specialist for a second look. Three days later I received an email my app was approved.
