I was approved for a $1k and was wondering if I should call right away to see about them reconsidering for a higher starting line or I should wait for the card to arrive?

OR wait the 180 days for the first 3xcli?

thanks

Congrats!

I got my BCE with $1500SL and as soon as I received the card, I requested CLI online. Asked for 3K only didn't think they would give me 3X so quickly, but received what I asked for. (received the card about one week)

When 180days came, requested 3X for 9K and was granted CLI.

You can wait 61 days or 180 days before your 1st CLI, however when AMEX gives out low SL like mine and yours, it seems they would issue more CL after activation.

Good luck!

Hi Cybersamp, that sounds good! So you requested yours online once you activated your card correct? And all these CLI requests are soft pulls correct?

Thanks for your input!

Yes and yes. You need the 4 digit code on the CC to request CLI with AMEX and they provide SP CLI unless its especial circumstances.

Re: Amex BCE APPROVED..but low starting limit.

I don't know if I messed it up requesting a little more than 3x or it was not going to get approved regardless, but I requested the CLI after activating the card and asked for total of 4k (was approved for 1k) and received this message:

Your request for a line of credit increase has been submitted.
You will receive a written response within 7-10 days.

Does this mean declined? If it is, will I have to wait 61 days from today or how many days from this denial, to request another one?

Sorry to hear that, it's probably denied. Wait 61 days and PIG in the meantime, you'll be treated well

Do you know if one could call them and recon this CLI decline?

Re: Amex BCE APPROVED..but low starting limit.

Amex is not kind with CLIs on newly approved cards. Wait the 61 days...it's not that long and you'll be rewarded well then. If the limit is a problem, pay off the card before statement cuts and then you can charge more. With heavy spend like that, the 61 days CLI will get you to 3x, much more than groveling now would get you
