Amex CLI guidelines

I recently hit the 3rd statement mark on my BCP. Followed this link to check for CLI eligibility and it still says 'Your account is too new; check back later'.

How often should I be checking this? At the 6 month mark?

check everyday honestly, for some people it's 6 months, but some people report 90-110 days, the only way to know is to check the link or go to the website and click the button to check

I was 90-100 days, it wasn't exactly on 90 or 91 days or exactly 3 statements though

with the $1k SL, they might want longer, but if they like you and you're giving them spend, it wouldn't surpirse me to see you get the 3x CLI pretty soon

Re: Amex CLI guidelines

Appreciate it.  I'll check every day and report back.

I've been putting decent spend on it,  about $1700 so far to hit the SUB. But I was curious. It wouldn't surprise me that the number of tradelines opened might give them pause though. Hopefully they can give me some love soon as it's hard balancing utilization & that spend.

Re: Amex CLI guidelines

I got my BCE card on October 9, 2022, with a $1k credit limit.
I got my first 3x CLI to $3k using a link someone posted on this forum after 93 to 95ish days, as the link had not shown up in my Account Services on their web site until after I got my CLI.
Since then I've had a CLI to $9k, then to $27k a few days ago.

After 90 days, you just have to try the CLI request link every day until it lets you submit a request.

Back to gardening until Late February 2026.

UPDATE:

Finally got the button at 3 statements + 3 days,  but got denied. Too many recent requests for credit, which is understandable. I'll try again next statement.

Re: Amex CLI guidelines

I recently got my 3x cli from Amex a couple days ago after 90 something days from account opening. How often are we allowed to request another CLI? Is it every 6 months or every 90 days?

Re: Amex CLI guidelines

My first Amex was a $1k limit card and it took I believe around the 6 month mark to get the 3x CLI

Re: Amex CLI guidelines

Would yall wait longer on than 6 months if it's a dirty profile or give it a try anyways?  I have a $5k SL on my BCP but was approved only a couple of months after passing the 61mo rule (Amex was not involved in my CH7).  I'm a 5 or 6 days past my 6th statement on the card.

Edit: I'm aware some people have struggled to get CLIs on a profile with a BK but I also have seen the recent growth that FireMedic1 has started getting.

It's a SP CLI, if it doesn't go through oh well it doesn't affect anything.

@Zoostation1

Good luck getting a CLI from Amex with a BK showing.  I did not burn them in my 2017 Ch 13... they gave me a $10k card in May 2022 and I have never been able to get a CLI despite PIF each month.

"Your credit report reflects a bankruptcy" is the response I get every time... including the one about 20 mins ago.  Smiley LOL

They are looking at EX and the PR is due to fall off in January... or October if the 3 months EE holds true.

Not expecting a CLI before then but at least they started me at $10k.
