Amex PRG

Eyeing the PRG because the 50k after 1k spend offer is coming up for me. I'm wondering my chances and am hopeful you all can help me. My scores are in my sig and my only concerns are my thin file and the fact that I have two recently opened cards (3 and 1mo old), I have no baddies but my oldest account is only 1.5years old. Also would adding another card to my lineup at this time be detrimental to my credit score? Cap One's simulator seems to think it will but I am not sure. Thanks!

Re: Amex PRG

Have you checked their pre-qual screen?  Not knowing your income, but based on what you said sans that, I'd say you have a good shot.  Your score will not take a big hit for a new inquiry and will bounce back quickly,  as long as you're not getting a mortgage or anything big like that soon, I would say go for it.  And while you're at it, apply for the PRG and at the same time go for one of their revolvers with the same pull.

Re: Amex PRG

I wasn't prequaled either, and my scores were lower but I had a similarly thin file (oldest acct 3ish years, AAoA about 1.1 years) and I got approved for the PRG. I think you have a good shot. Smiley Happy

Re: Amex PRG

Was recently approved for the PRG with my current scores and then they approved me for the Every Day right afterwards. I have some negs on my file and I burned Amex back in 2009. I had completed a payment agreement with them last year so thats possibly why I got back in. Have to get used to the NPSL aspect of the charge card as it's letting me charge more than my limit for the revolver. They do let you check if certain sized charges are going to be approved though so that is a bonus.
