I have had my baby Amex Delta ($1,000 CL) since 2019. It has never increased and I have requested a CLI probably once/year. The reason for denial was always low credit score (usually around 670-680). I very often carried a balance as well.
Over the last year, I brought my score up around 75 points and now make sure to practice AZEO. I paid iff the card in May but kept a reoccurring 9.99 charge on their monthly, paying before statement cut.
I applied for a CLI today, got another denial, reason given: "Your recent spending on the account is low in relation to your current credit limit"
I don't need the increase, I now have more than enough credit, but this is my only Amex and I'm sick if it not growing. I just opened three cards during a mini spree last month, one being a Chase card, so I have no interest in applying for another Amex (even though it shows prequals on their site) and risk upsetting Chase.
So, is it worth a recon?

Honestly I wouldn't. They are telling you that you aren't on their radar. I too constantly get denied for cli but knowing I don't use the cards much, can't use for bts, or even have any real use I've stopped and accepted I'm not their targeted demo lol. Plenty of other fish in the sea
. Ps you can always keep trying, no harm as it's sp but just look at where you want to spend your money and concentrate on the card that will give you most bang for your buck![]()

Yeah, I guess I'll have to come to terms with it! I have other really good cards with very usable limits. I'll focus on continuing to grow my relationship with NFCU since they seem to like me 😊
