Applied for CSP

So I got approved for a PenFed cars who pulled Equifax and sent me a notice saying I had a 723 score.

Figuring my score was much higher than I thought it was I applied for Chase Sapphire Preferred.

I had Equifax and Experian locked and got the message “Thank you for your request. We need to review your request a little bit longer. We will let you know of our decision as soon as possible.”

What does this mean? I don’t know which bureau they tried to hit cuz I haven’t gotten notices. Should I call?

Re: Applied for CSP

Check the automated application status line first and see what they have to say.

Re: Applied for CSP

It's best to unlock your reports before you apply for credit. As mentioned previously, Chase can and will double pull.

I've noticed in the forums, those in California get a single pull on EX often. While others like myself outside of Cali, either get hit with EX and TU or EX and EQ.

Bottom line if you are serious about applying, unfreeze the CRs.
I have several lenders that HP EQ and SP EX. Or they may HP TU and SP EQ or EX.
Citi does this as well as Penfed and US bank. I think Wells Fargo did it also.

Re: Applied for CSP

My wife recently applied for CSP and got approved on the spot then she decided to ask for CLI on her existing freedom card instead of applying for another chase card to take advantage of that HP, but she ended up with double hard pulls on EX and TU if i'm not mistaken.

@Anonymous - this is common practice with Chase. CLI requests are not 'bundled' with CC applications. They typically will result in a separate HP.

Re: Applied for CSP

I ran into a similar issue when I applied for the Chase slate last week.  I unlocked my reports a day beforehand.  I received the same need to review your request a little longer message.  I called the automated status line immediately and then selected the option to talk to a rep.  She didn't really give me any info other than to wait.  I asked her what CR they pulled and she said she wasn't sure but would transfer me to a rep who could answer that.  Once I got transferred to him he asked me a few verification questions and then sent me a text verification code.  He then told me that my app was approved.  I'd call them if you want to know the status asap.
