Checked the USAA "My Offers" tab this evening.
CREDIT CARD-PRESELECTED OFFER
VFW-USAA REWARDS WORLD MASTERCARD
16.9% APR
0% APR for BT until 12/01/2016
I have no need for a BT, but passing on another WMC is a little hard to do.
How reliable is this offer? I don't want to take a HP for nothing.
ETA: 2500 bonus points after first purchase.
From what I understand, (I asked this question before when I got an offer), USAA offers are as good as gold.
Decisions, decisions....damn

All things considered, and provided not much has changed in your credit landscape, their offers tend to be solid. A couple items to consider, while USAA can be generous, bear in mnd they will not combine accounts or reallocate CLs (just in the event you love them so much and end up with 3 accounts). The other item would be your AAoA. If the rate is within your ideal zone, then weigh the pros and cons. On some of their products, the APRs can be much lower.
Apparently not good as gold...Denied. AAoA and recent Inq's. Thanks for the recent Inq USAA...LOL

Well that's interesting. Mine have been solid including the last recent one (and trust me, I had several new accounts and inquiries sprinkled around). Oh well, that's the risks one takes sometimes (it will age with your other recent HPs). Unfortunately, cannot recon with USAA but on the upside you've had a recent streak of good fortune on all your recent approvals.

I'm a bit surprised as well... actually, this is literally the first time I've heard of someone having an "offer" and it not being approved. ![]()
When I got almost the exact same offer last October (mine was for the Visa, for some reason) I was sure it would be a no-go, so I ignored it for several days. They eventually sent me an email directing me to the newly available 'offer', and I figured if nothing else I'd get a free copy of my credit report out of it. You could have knocked me over with a feather when they approved me.
That being said, the next month I got an 'offer' for the World Mastercard... but I was so sure I was borderline for the Visa that I didn't dare try for it. (It was for the same APR anyway, so there was truly no need). After a month or so the offer expired, and I haven't seen another 'offer' since... LOL. The Visa they gave me "opened doors" that had been (in my case) closed for years, and I guess the new accounts have 'spooked' them, or perhaps the Visa approval was a genuine fluke after all... I'll never know, but I'm not complaining.
It could be AAoA that has them avoiding me for new offers as well. My AAoA was around 6 to 7 years last fall (when I got the USAA Visa) but it's now down to 3 to 4 years, depending on what report you look at. As an additional data point, I only had one inquiry when I was approved. (I have three inquiries per report now.)
Depending on your AAoA and inquiry situation, you could be good-to-go in just a few months. USAA rewards are 'meh', but I really like having my card with them, and the couple of times I've had to call they've been fantastic on the phone as well.
Hang in there! ![]()
Had the same thing happen to a buddy of mine. Got pre approved for USAA WMC and app'd only to be denied. He only had one previous credit card from USAA with a $2500 limit and an installment loan around 50% util. AAoA of like 8 months. I never pulled credit because of pre-approval but did after denial and he had a statement balance of like $2497 on the damn card but had paid in full already.
You figure USAA could of seen this as it's their own damn account but still denied.
About 2 weeks later after a PIF and balance cut he was pre-approved for it again, this time got approved for $10K SL. USAA can be wonky
LMAO!!
Just checked the "My Offers" tab again and had this:
Credit Card-Preselected offer
USAA Secured Platinum Mastercard
Fool me once USAA, shame on you. Fool me twice...well you know. Darn I was really waiting for that Secured MC offer too.
I cold app'd the Classic Amex.
Screw it all, I don't get anything in the Offers tab
That's funny though Smokey. I had a literal LOL. Awesome. ![]()
