B of A “pre selected” mailer

As a kid I burned B of A and had to pay off a charge off. Since then they haven't been willing to touch me with a ten foot pole even as my credit has been great and I have every other lender.
Today I get a mail offer for the bank americard saying I am "pre selected for the card due to using my credit wisely"

it shows a range of interest rates and doesn't explicitly say "pre approved" anywhere.
I'm guessing this is a mine field and I should stay far away. Just wanted to get everyone else's experience with BoA mailers.

Thanks all!

It was in your situation as well. I created a savings account, dropped $1k in it...left it for 6-months or so, started getting pre-selected mailers. I applied and big win, $13.8K SL.  I guess YMMV...

Re: B of A “pre selected” mailer

Curious, are all "selected" offers considered a minefield? My wife received a CSP "selected" offer recently and she's never got one before. Though we did use the prequal a month or 2 back and they didn't qualify her for anything, so I'm wondering if it's targeted advertising since that attempt with the prequal?

She has a 740+ credit score but a thin file as she's only been in the US 5 years now. She has a Cap1 Quicksilver, but would like to get her a better card eventually.

I feel like most of the advertising one gets in the mail for credit cards is usually just that--advertising-- and frequently its far behind (they will usually have SP'd your credit maybe once during the current or even previous quarter)

I'd stay away . . . It's just a marketing tool and not a guaranteed approval. It will be a hard pull if you take the bait . . . So it's a chance!!! Hoping that you are approved for the card of your choice!

Not necessarily.  It really boils down to your overall profile once you decide to accept the offer.  If your profile is ideal, then surely an approval can be expected.

Since this thread is specific to the OP's BoA question, pre-selected invitations are simply targetted marketing regardless if there's an invitation code, opt-out language (regulatory requirement) or the x/10 get approved disclaimer.  That said, BoA tends to yield pre-qualified offers from time to time if you're an existing customer and those would display in the Special Offers section of your online account profile (usually these tend to be far more reliable).
