Its seems that the 50K preferred link is causing all kinds of confusion.

Why do say that?  Have you read about other issues?

Re: Barclays###!!! Argh. Problems with DGF application

This is not the first time this has happened.

If you used the "preferred" link to apply, it is very possible that your GF was auto denied exactly for the reasons you were told - she hadn't reached the prerequisite US Airways level to be approved through that link.

If you used the regular Barclays link to apply, then it wouldn't make sense at all.

I managed to get approved through the preferred link even though I had never been a US Airways Dividend Miles member but it did take a few days for process.

I tried reapplying again.  The applications looks exactly what I did for her on Friday and the offer is the same afaik.  It rejected the application for the 30 day rule

I assume it is something like the special URL for the 70k marriot link that use to be floating around vs. applying through the regular website?  Guessing that is what preferred link means?

On a side note, the one thing I love about barclay's is they won't HP you, if they know something possibly might not happen...

Hope you get this figured out Irish.

Re: Barclays###!!! Argh. Problems with DGF application

If you don't know the preferred link, it wasn't the preferred link.

In December there was a link for existing US Airways members with level that provided a 10k  miles bonus at the one year anniversary.  That link got (over)used and I think they either cut it off completely or actually strictly limited approvals through it.

Smiley Sad

Ok, she just got off the phone again and talked to a more knowledgable CSR.  this one explained that there is an ongoing problem that they are aware of: if you applied from a link off a blog (I did apply for her from the million miles site) that it can cause a problem where you are rejected due to this 'level' problem.  The application from the site is the exact same as the one from the Barclays web page but there must be some coding issue.  The application even says they will create a USAir member number if you don't have one so it can't possibly assume you are elevated level.  Anyways they are supposedly working on the issue but she told her that she still will have to wait the 30 days. I think it's kinda bs that they know it's a problem on their end but won't override the 30 days 'rule' and let her reapply from the Barclays web page.  Note that I applied from this same link and had no issue.

guess I'll have her reapply in 30 days.
