you couldn't have said it better! With responses like that be careful you'll get ton's of 'marriage proposals' on this sight. What are you going to say next you're a season ticket holder for the NBA and along with having NBA Finals and Super Bowl Tickets!!!!!
There was no "jealously" involved. It was a pure numbers game. OP opened card and put some usage on it. Three months in requested a CLI. While in the background went out and received 14 new TL, although only 12 are reporting. Doesn't matter if income or past history support it, it's risky/unusual behavior. Any bank worth their salt would take AA.
But if you want to use the jealous partner theme, how would you react if your partner got with 14 other people and you knew about 12 of them? Would you just brush it off?
@Anonymous wrote:Thanks for the reply Red. I have maybe 12 new credit lines they didn't like although NONE of them have a balance. Barclays are very arrogant or sensitive. I have no clue.
12 new accounts and none of them has a balance? so, why did you open 12 accounts that you did not need or have use for?
Many folks over here say "only apply for the card that you're gona use and need"
Only thing with using the strategy in bold is that you'd need to make payments throughout the month and/or every time you made a huge purchase since you wouldn't have a grace period. Not saying it's not a viable strategy, but just wanted to add that for anyone wanting to go this route.
@zarteycranford wrote:LOL that's going to be a lot of pop corn. I have opened two Barclays cards this year as well as several other accounts. No problems I have received cli's from them on a regular basis. The key is six months if you make it six months then your in. Barclays likes to see usage on their cards when I say usage I mean usage. For example I run $1500.00 a month through Fronteir card I never pay in full. I always carry a small balance on the card to show that I care. I pay $ 1400.00 back let $100.00 ride so they can see that I am willing to revolve money but also eat a little interest. This is of course only my opinion based on my experiences with Barclays. I think Barclays sucks is a little harsh they saw something they didn't like and adjusted accordingly. You scared them. Banks do what banks do. Move on Barclays dosn't offer great cards anyway but keep in mind other banks are watcing you report as well so be careful not to poke the bear.

@Anonymous wrote:Thanks for the reply. Do you mean pay off my Barclays card? I do have every intention of paying it off by the first week of December.
Yes pay them off ASAP and call back CS.
@Anonymous wrote:This forum while good also has me itching for more cards with all of the approvals of others. Also, Creditaddict is amazing and so is Ron with how they have all these cards and keep getting approvals.

Oh I realize 12,14 new accts are unusual and excessive in a 4 month period. But, I've seen Barclays react that way for far less. They are known to be quirky and sensitive to new inquiries and accts. Personally I have opened 3 or 4 new accounts since I got my Barclays cards without AA from them. Knock on wood!
I did not have a credit card for 13 years. I kept seeing CreditKarma commercials. I decided to join and saw my credit score was excellent. CreditKarma recommended a Barclay's Rewards Mastercard. I bit on the offer and took a hard pull and lost 40 points on my credit score. I have since made most of it up. I wish I had learned of the Comenity soft pulls trick before I took the Barclay advice from CreditKarma. Since that day in July 2014, I have been approved for Sportsman's Guide Visa, Total Rewards Visa, Camping World/Good Sam Club Visa, Fuel Rewards Mastercard and J. Crew (5 new Comenity cards). I did receive another 2 point FICO score reduction for 4 new accounts but made those points up the next month. So far no AA from Barclay's. I will definitely be in the garden for a year.
Figure I'd chime in my experince thus far for those reading about Barclay.
I had 6 new accounts in Aug 2013. I added my Barclay Rewards MC in March 2014 along with 4 other cards as a part of 1 app spree. Carried a balance on the Barclay of over 50% util, along with carrying a balance on 3-4 other cards. I've made just a little over minimum payments because it's 0% for 24 months. I added an account in June 2014. Added an auto loan in July. Added 5 more accounts in Aug. Started paying Barclay down a little bit along with the other cards and just added 1 more account 4 days ago. So far no AA or anything yet. Still have a balance on it but it's down less than 10% util. 12 accounts but in an 8 month period, not 4.
So.. is Barclay SP CLI? lol
