Listen, BBT’s branch representatives are clueless. I’ve got a post that I’ll be making pretty soon about my own experience recently.

The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. As far as the branch is concerned they take applications for credit cards and they know nothing else.

When you go to a branch regarding a credit card issue for BBT, be prepared to call the number on the back of your card to obtain instructions for the in branch personnel.

They still know it was you by the name and the birthdate and the address and so does the credit bureau. What happened most likely is the credit bureau has now added another Social Security number to your file as an alias that you will need to dispute off.

This should not have any effect I don’t think on your card. If anything, it’s a major embarrassment to BBT and they should be falling over themselves apologizing to you and providing you with a $25 gift card like they did me for screwing me.

Matter fact I’ll see if I can find the telephone number to a lady at BBT who is collecting complaints for policy review and potential change. They are looking for problems like this to fix and address. Lord knows they need to.

Thank you @Birdman7, please let me know if you find that phone number, the one that we called in the branch today was 800-476-4228. I will check my reports for an additional SS#, do you suggest that I lock my reports now as an added measure?

Locking or freezing your reports simply prevents hard inquiries. Personally I prefer to keep mine frozen and you will see just why whenever I do my thread on BB&T.

I will definitely get you the number. Maybe two. Meanwhile they pull Equifax, so yes you need to pull your latest Equifax report and look for an extra Social Security number that you will need to dispute off.
