i just saved $150 on a car rental (insurance waiver) as another example.

if you travel then the little AF for a few years is more of an investment (with a real nice return).

tack on freedom revolving (if the categories work with your spend) and it makes it even better.

i'm not trying to sell the card, just sharing my experience

and thats exactly why I should wait. Thanks.

DW and I are currently working on some sign up bonuses:

AMEX ED, BCE, PRG. Freedom. Venture. Citi HHonors... I wouldn't want to not hit the bonus.

Re: CSP... the pain..

I feel ya.   It's the last card I want for the foreseeable future.  I applied Saturday even without a Pre-Qual.  Got the "App will be reviewed" message, tried to recon, told to FAX in a copy of my drivers license, so now I wait.

Good luck getting it!

Re: CSP... the pain..

against all of the sound logic cited above (some of which was spewed from my own brain and keyboard), we applied this evening. "Application will be reviewed... 7 days blah blah blah"

Maybe we'll call tomorrow, maybe we won't. the CSP struggle is real

Re: CSP... the pain..

Definitely call to recon.  They just might need to verify some of your information and then you might get approved on the spot.

Re: CSP... the pain..

I'm itching to app for this card as well. I am hesitant to app though since i use to be pre approved but now I'm not. Must be because of US Airways, Venture & AARP hitting my reports recently.

The struggle is real.

I should probably wait until AARP is 6 months old.

Just do exactly as this man says. Especially with the Freedom parts. Freedom has great revolving categories most of which most everyone finds useful (or at least 3/4 of them). I, for example, find no use in Amazon 5% but find a lot of use in every other (major) category. Groceries, dining, gas...these are huge categories to get 5% back on.
