Capital One SavorOne-Waiting Game

So, I'm new to the myFico Forum, and as well as becoming a recent Capital One customer.   But I'm glad to become both.  I've been reading post after post about credit card applications and approvals, and have learned a plethora of information.  So, I'll get to it.  While Christmas shopping for my little ones, I was applied online and was approved for the Capital One Walmart Rewards Mastercard with a small starting limit.  They hit all three bureaus, and my scores ranged between 589 to 646 at the time.  Upon being approved, I began browsing Capital One's website and found the SavorOne card.  We spend a great deal of $$ of groceries and dining out.  Needless to say, I want that card!!!

Through my research, I came upon several posts that mentioned waiting at least 30 days between Capital One cc apps.  So, last night I decided to go for it!  Welp, I wasn't approved. So I decided to call in and speak with an applications specialist and spoke with a rep by the name of Rome or Roman?  Probably the latter.  Anyhoo, very nice guy who told me that my reason for denial was that I either had an application that was processing or had been recently approved.  After informing him of my December approval, he let me know that I needed to wait six months in between applications.  Initially I thought I needed to try for a card geared towards average credit like the QuicksilverOne.  However, he stated that if the Savorone is the card I really want--which it is--that I need to wait six months, and he'd/they'd look forward to hearing from me in June.  Oh, almost forgot.  It was a soft inquiry so no dreaded three hard inquiries.  So, June it is!

Same here Fredzos.  I actually asked the rep to repeat it again since six months seems long, but I'll go with it since my recent application approval with their Walmart Rewards Mastercard was the only reason listed that I wasn't approved for the Savorone.  Just wanted to pass on the new info.

Sorry for you denial, at least you did not end up with (3) more HP's on your reports.

Re: Capital One SavorOne-Waiting Game

While it is good of you to post this especially for new people, cap1 has had a 6 months between apps rule for awhile now so it is not a new policy
The blessing is they auto deny without a HP

Thank you and exactly @M_Smart007!  Those 3 hard pulls are a bit much! So, I was happy to learn it didn't affect my credit profile.

Yep.  I'm a newbie @dragontears and it helped me, so I know it'll be useful to another newbie looking to attain multiple Capital One cards.

Re: Capital One SavorOne-Waiting Game

That's BS! I got my Quicksilver One on 9/2019 (PC to a Venture One on 12/2019), and I got my Savor One on 12/2019. I was preaproved for the Savor One also. That's why applied for it. Otherwise I would have waited 6 months between applications.

I would check this site periodically: https://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/prequalify/

If the Savor One shows up, then you have a solid chance of getting it. Obviously it's not guaranteed.

Re: Capital One SavorOne-Waiting Game

Hmm.  Thanks  for the info @soxfaininfl.  I think I will give them another try at 3 months which will be at the end of March.

What's interesting is that I've tried that prequal tool before, and nothing ever comes up under the prequal except what cards they suggest based on my answers, yet I was approved for their Walmart Rewards Mastercard.

Gonna stay positive because that SavorOne has my name on it! Smiley Happy
