I have a Wells Fargo CC with 8 months of history, but I recently applied for the Discover it Card and was approved with a $1,000 CL. Very soon after, I applied for the Chase Amazon Visa, but was denied for too short of history. I am aware (in hindsight) from reading forums on myfico that Chase typically likes 1 year+ of history, but since I've seen people get in the door with Chase with less history, I know it's not absolutely impossible. The bottom line is, I have the inq now, so I should at least try to make something of it.
Okay, so I reconned this morning (with the -0625 number, this is the one to call, right?) and I spoke to a woman who was, for lack of a better term, robotic. She wasn't mean in any way, but I could tell that I wasn't going to get anywhere in the phone call. All she kept saying was the info on my Equifax report, which I have on hand. So that was a let down, but I figure to give it a couple of more shots to see if I can get someone a little more dynamic. I know it won’t be easy, but I don’t see any harm in trying at this point.
Is there any advice I should consider for my next call and/or for the near future? I’m considering on how to put my best foot forward from here on out. Any comments would be apprecitated.

I got in with Chase with 11 months of history. You're on the right track. Their cobranded cards are easier to get than their regular cards IMO. Just one month after I was denied for the Chase Amazon Visa, I apped for the SW card and they started me off on a 5K limit after verification so don't be afraid to try. Keep trying and they will reward you handsomely. Try recon a few more times, really stress why you want the card and that you want to establish a good relationship with Chase and all that stuff and if that doesn't work, wait two more months and try again.
Also, you might wanna open up a checking account with Chase if you don't already have one. Not that it would help automatically but the cool thing about having that is that if they approve you for a card, you'll be able to see the account linked up instantly.
Here is a list of backdoor numbers. Good Luck and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the words. I'm a little busy today so I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow - looking forward to it.

Good luck!
Well, two more tries and it seems like a no go for now. The last analyst was quite helpful, but said that the only thing holding me back is the lack of history (income, util, etc. all fine), so it seems mostly like a waiting game for me.
With that considered, I probably won't reapply for quite awhile, since I will soon have the Discover reporting and I want that to show some use. Even before this, I wasn't planning on applying for anything else for another 9-12 months, when it seems appropriate. Does that seem reasonable?

Get that phone warmed up. It's gonna be a long day.
No, really. Keep trying.
I find this interesting, because the Chase Amazon card was the first one I was ever approved for. I might have gotten in through the shopping cart trick inadvertantly. I do most of my shopping on Amazon, and there are frequently advertisements for "Sign up and save $40 off of your order" or something like that. Its probably a moot point now, since you've applied and burned the HP, but if you see it in 6 months, it might be the way to go.
I actually applied for the Chase Amazon Visa this past Friday night, around midnight EST while I was shopping online. I got an email that my application was under review and I would hear from them shortly. I got emails that Chase did a HP on me the next day. I have a $55K auto loan with Chase at 2.54% and a Chase Sapphire (since 2009) with a $12K limit and only $258 dollars on it right now. Wondering if my low usage of my Sapphire is the reason it was not approved on the spot.....
Chase Amazon IMO is harder to get then the Freedom or CSP.. Know so many people that have applied for it been denied and can get the freedom or CSP with ease.. Baffled
