Applied for the CFU on December 19th. Got instantly declined so I called them and it was because I had a fraud alert. I was on the phone for about an hour with them verifying my information and at the end they informed me that I would get a response within 30 days.

Is that Chase way to tell me thank you for applying but no thank you.

I mean base on your credit profile it look like u have a legit chance to get approved from them. well Chase has a 5/24 rules they go buy, which mean avoid open 5 accounts within a 2 year period. if you open 5 account in 2 years that automatically denied your application.

Hello @Anonymous, welcome to the forums.

It's pretty standard for verification to go through its paces. If everything checks out to their satisfaction, then it will likely turn into an approval unless they request for additional documents or information.

It just means manual review is necessary. Can go either way. But at least they didn’t deny you instantly with recon

This is typical behavior for Chase and has no bearing on whether you'll get approved. 

I have five new Chase cards from the last two years and none were instantly approved.

I had more than one go for "fraud review" even though I was an existing client!

In my case, part of the part of the problem was I like to use a P.O. Box for mail.

Chase is very strict about enforcing the USA Patriot Act of 2001 which requires financial institutions to verify identity as an anti-terrorism initiative.
