Hello All... I'm so new and excited like a kid in a candy store
wooooooooooooooooooooooooo
OK... now... My wife applied for Chase Freedom. It was declined. A letter was received in the mail that showed her EQ to be at a 624. Credit Sesame shows it to be higher but I understand they are using a different scoring model (Card Acquistion). She called Recon
There was not a mention of a low credit score.
No mention about the 13 inqiries (9 will be removed next month due to searching for a car)
No mention about the 2 recently opened cards (2 months ago)
THEY DID HOWEVER MENTION
A collection that is currently being disputed (4 years old). He said it needs to be "taken care of"

The Utilization (which is high this month for some Odd reason that I can't even explain)... We usually are very good at keeping a low ut.
She tried to appeal to him to consider that payments are 100% on time and mentioned even paying multiple times some months. She asked him to consider previous months balances since he had access to it and to undertand that this month was a 1 off that has never happened before.
When he mentioned having "those taken care of", she said that it would mean they would have to do another hard pull to know that its been taken care of and he agreed. Clearly we don't want another hard pull.
SHOULD SHE KEEP CALLING? I've seen that some people have called up to 3 times. I'm sure there is no standard for 3 calls! What says everyone????
I finally got into chase back in Dec 2014 with amazon visa then in January 2015 was approved for freedom. I tried for 2 years with always being denied. I did the calls and pleading but I never had luck. You could try another person but I hate when you domthis and they can see you already called! Thats embarassing! Give it a try if not then wait 1 or 2 months.
Good luck!
Chase reps can see if you have called before. Just lay low for a couple months and try again. If first recon didn't work, a second attempt probably wouldn't either.
Perhaps... I've read what seems like a thousand posts about several calls... and I had to do that with barclay...
+1
Did it end up getting approved by calling back? Confused as I see the "approval!!!"
sorry about the confusion... NO... She didn't get it... I'm just asking about strategy so that she can...
Ouzel caking but you have to be prepared for thrm to ask again for another HP. Her internal score with Chase is pretty low and as best she is borderline for an approval. Having said that there is no harm in trying again.
