@Yes-Its-Me, my discover limit is 800$ after two increase, originally as low as the new freedom. The highest limit line is 5.5 K for amex but not posted yet . Acutualy, every year I have at least 4 trips and cost 4k, but the trips are always business trips. I have one international trip soon in this july so I want to get a good offer of flight cards or travel cards.

@Anonymous,
The fact that Amex approved you for the $5.5k and isn't reporting yet does pose a problem. Because although you are approved, other companies can't see it yet when assessing your report. Try to recon the United card with chase. If after a few tries it doesn't work, your trip is in July and still have plenty of time to get the card. If it is a no go after a few tries, apply again in 2 months. That gives you a chance for your Amex to report, chase to see a minimal history on the freedom card. Allowing those 2 cards to show on the report will actually help you get a higher limit should apply for the united card again (if recon fails).
@Yes-Its-Me,
do you think it is helpful if I list my plan for trip and I actually need the card? I may also mention that I was approved for the amex bcp at 5.5k but not yet posted to the report. Do you think these helps?

@Anonymous,
Mentioning you fly united all the time and stating you have being approved for the BCP may/may not help. It does help to mention it but the fact that they cant see the Amex on your report is what may be the deal breaker. They can't just take your word just because you said so. Again, it is all going to come down to that 1 particular analyst whom you can have on your side. Lets do this, call tomorrow morning and while reconning, mention your planned trip and your Amex approval and see what the analyst says. If it is a no go, come back and post exactly what the analyst said and we put our heads together for the evening call. That way, when you call in the evening you'd have an answer should the same issue be brought up. Remember, the battle is not over yet and be polite when you call.
@Yes-Its-Me,
I will do as you said.
By the way, I just found the first statement for my amex bcp will be shown on Feb.6, and I donot know when will the account be reported to my credit report, but I know I submitted my united mileageplus at Jan.12. so there's a chance that before Feb.12, the new amex account has been posted to the credit report. If the reconsider failed this month, maybe I can do in Feb when the card is posted and before the recosider time is due(30 days?).

@Anonymous,
Keep in mind the report pulled on Jan 12th is what chase will be using for the recon unless you ask them to pull a fresh report. Also, although Amex says your statement closes on Feb 6th does not mean it will report your new account to all 3 credit bureaus. Amex is known to report news accounts either after the 1st statement or the 2nd statement even sometimes the 3rd statement So you don't know exactly when it will update your reports of the new account. Unless you see it report before the 30 days is up, then you can authorize chase to pull a fresh report. For now, they are using the report from Jan 12 that is reporting your $800 discover card![]()
@Yes-Its-Me,
I see. Thanks for the information.
Let's see how it goes tomorrow morning.![]()
Definitely give you an A for persistence..Honestly with the low CL they gave you on the Freedom, I highly doubt they will give you the United as it is a Siggy with a 5k CL Min. It will take a few months IMO. I wish you luck though!
your going to have to wait. ![]()
