Yesterday I applied for, and was denied a Chase Sapphire (I called and they said it was because of income, I failed to include money given to me for expenses by my family, which would bump up my income and nearly double it, but that still didn't help with the rep that I talked too). I'm looking for a good card with travel rewards. I have an income between $20,000 - $25,000 and am a college senior. FICO score of 775 with a Discover It ($2000 CL) and Bank of America Travel Rewards (CL $1,000). How long do I have to wait to reapply for a Chase card, and if I do, do I stand a good chance of being accepted for the IGH card? Since I mainly stay at Holiday Inn's I thought this might be a good option for when I travel.
You can app any time but if they remember your information that's not going to help. I would wait 30 days for a different Card and 90 days for the same card again with updated income info and by then your should inch up a little more. If everyone else in your family is alright with their history maybe you should get in an authorized user, talk them into a csp? there's an extra bonus for that. then when you qualify for your own you can share it back with them.
Are there any other hotel rewards cards that are easier to get and would be more realistic with my income level? I would imagine a non-Chase card would be easier.

Honestly, with that income, I'd stay away from anything like CSP -- you won't be able to spend enough to justify it (without going into debt). Even IHG has a fee but at least it is basically paid for if you utilize the free night.
It's got nothing to do with Chase; it's the fact that "travel cards" in the true sense tend to benefit high income and heavy spending (not to mention frequent travel). That's what CSP is for. A few domestic trips a year, which on your income is probably all you will be doing, doesn't warrant a travel card in most cases.
These are some of the options I've been looking at:
-Chase Marriot Rewards Premier
-Choice Privileges Visa Signature
-Club Carlson Premier Rewards Visa Signature
-Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature
-Chase IGH
Out of these is there a card that has a minimum CL of around $3,000 or so? I know, given my income, that I probably woun't be qualifying for a card with a minimum CL of $5,000.

Chase Marriot is a 5k Min as it is a VS.. You might be able to obtain that wtih your income, not sure if it is as strict as the CSP, but I assume it is as they both have an AF and both are Signature of at least 5k, so cross that off the list until income increases if they just denied you recently for the CSP due the same reasons. Club Carlson will be a no go as well as it is a visa signature and makes the CSP look like childs play w/regards to UW criteria.
The Choice/Wyndham and IHG are all within your reach, but can't gurantee a 3k CL on any of those, although you have the best change with the IHG and think that is the best bang for you, but you gotta make that decision
I'm leaning toward the IHG as well. I'm assuming it would be in my best interest to hold off a month or so before applying, since I was recently rejected for the Sapphire? Also, if the Wyndham and Choice are in my reach, does that mean that the Visa Signature aspect of those cards will be a non-factor in whether it's approved or not? I've heard Visa Signature cards are harder to be approved for.
Don't believe the choice/wyndam cards are VS, believe they are just Mastercards.. W/regards to holding off a month that is really up to you.. Will let others ring in on whether it is needed or not as not familiar with Chase on how they work with that.

you actually dont need to wait if you are willing to take another HP. Chase is a little more lenient when it comes to their co-branded cards (IHG) than their branded (CSP) cards. I also think IHG comes in a platinum version also so a 5k CL minimum requirement is not needed. I have read here of people getting denied for a branded card but then approved for a co-branded card within 30 days. It is really up to you on how soon you want the card. If it can wait then apply in 30 days.
I just didn't know if reapplying for another Chase card so soon would send up some red flags, since (as I mentioned in my first post), I'll have a significant change in income, since I can include my family allowance on my application, and did not do so with my Sapphire application (I just wasn't thinking about it at the time).
