Any chance of an approval for a Chase United Explorer card at 7/24 for this card? Perhaps since it is a co-brand?
I already have two chase cards, never any late payments and just recently got a creadit line increase from Chase on one of the cards.
Worst case I should be down to 4/24 by the end of the year.
Would really hate to take on a hard pull with no shot.

I got denied because of 5/24 rule for this card. In my opinion, I dont think its worth a shot.
I say go for it - unless I'm counting wrong, I got my United Quest at 6/24. They denied me due to bankruptcy - so I called their reconsideration line, and after a few transfers got a (I think) higher-up U.S. specialist. She listened to what I had to say, and approved me right then and there! This is my 1st Chase card.
I think Chase is less strict on the 5/24 rule with cobranded cards. Amazon was the first crack in the wall because they were unhappy about so many customers getting turned down. But even with core cards, for a little while Chase seemed to throw 5/24 out the window with Sapphire Preferred apps. This was right after I waited to get under 5/24 to get my CSP, of course. Once-upon-a-time you couldn't get a CLI on a Chase card if you were 5+/24, but I've gotten two or three increases at 5/24, 6/24, 7/24. So 5/24 is still a thing, but it doesn't seem to be the absolute barrier it once was. It depends on the rest of your profile and how much they like you (and maybe on how hard they want to push that particular card at this particular time).

Back in mid-2022 I got the Amazon Visa with > 5/24. I decided to try for a United card and got shot down for more than 5/24. Not sure if this helps or not.
I got all of my chase cards with at least 7/24 but that was back in 2012/2014. crazy how inflation will change things. I thkn youre more likely now to be approved with zero inquiries and a 650 FICO than with 10 inquiries and a 750 FICO lol
fwiw I got the marriot chase card in 2014 with 7/24 25k SL 690 fico. 150k income.

I wonder if this may have some merit. If you keep up with the airlines, several of the US airlines (I know Delta and AA have done this, and heard United has as well) have basically become credit card companies that fly airplanes. All the avenues to gaining status now have the major points towards status being geared towards spend on their credit cards. Delta is on track to earn $7 billion dollars from AmEx alone this year. Given this, I could see airlines not being happy with too many stiff rules about becoming credit card members since this now has such a major effect on revenue.

Unless you are preapproved, you are likely to be declined.

Yeah I was figuring denial would be likely....
5/24 rule is the worst.

@madcap3693 is there a way to check for a pre approval or maybe a special SUB? I dont think its the inquiries, but the recent CLI and the inquiries could be a reason for denial.
mathematically id say 75% shot. This is one of their easier cards to get approved for based on anecdotal reports.
