Good luck!  Their card is nothing special but they're a good CU.

Application for Platinum accepted and pending, HP went through for EQ. So TrustedID is broken and reporting that the freeze is still there when I lifted it. Cool. Maybe I’ll get this one, I’ve been wanting to add more CU cards anyway so thanks. Smiley Happy

Citi is know to double-pull, so I'm a bit surprised that this caught you off guard.

The presence of a BK can definitely be a deal-breaker, even if it's slated to go away soon.

I expected EQ and EX based on DPs. I actually did this throwaway app because I wanted to see if my EQ was stuck frozen (I put a lift on and EQ says it’s lifted but TrustedID says it’s frozen) and they’re known to pull EQ and EX both in CO. Now I don’t know if they tried EQ at all. I may have to find a lender that’s known to pull just EQ... unfortunately they’re not common in CO!

Ypu could have just called EQ and asked them

Yeah... I would rather waste a HP than call Equifax.

The net loss actually won’t be a big deal since I’m losing one inquiry from each bureau next month (score-wise, which is what matters right now).

@Saeren
So sorry about the excess HPs but I swear I have a question. Why apply if you believed you would be denied?

I don’t apply for anything unless I wholeheartedly believe I’m going to be approved.

Sorry about the denial for the DC! And it does seem a bit weird that they pulled TU. For me, also in Colorado, I got doubled on EX and EQ if I remember it right. Let us know how the DCU turns out!

Again, I believed they would pull EQ and EX since I’m in CO and I figured I at least had a shot at it but I needed to see if EQ could be pulled.

In retrospect had I known about DCU being an EQ pull, I would have done that first (especially since I got approved, even if it’s only for $1K, it’s an interesting card since it acts as overdraft protection).

Honestly I don’t really freak about HPs. I don’t understand people who do freak about them either. I’m also not very happy with some things about my PayPal card so the DC was a logical thing to try for anyway just to see if I have other options but now that I know I don’t, I’ll have to work around the limitations of Sync (and their reporting).

The bottom line is that I can add 3 more cards before I go for my first card with Chase next year and I would rather get my apps out of the way before July so that everything will have a year to age before I ask Chase for my first card with them so anything that I’m interested in, I’m getting the apps out of the way. I already found out I’m on US Bank’s naughty list still, Citi isn’t interested (and from what I remember even when I had good credit, Citi never expressed any interest in me), Commerce Bank I could have used as a 3% ride share card and there weren’t many DPs on what they require so I took that shot, and DCU actually got approved which took care of my goal of adding another CU Platinum card to my wallet and based on my experience so far and their benefits, may also further my longer term goal of getting my banking into a good CU.

Theres nothing else that interests me so my reports are back to frozen status and I’m firmly planted in the garden.

Yeah that’s what I thought they would do.

DCU approved me. $1K @ 13.75. They’re conservative and don’t like baddies. When my repo and late payments fall they said that if I show responsible use they’ll review me for a CLI in a year. I don’t plan to actually use the card though so that’s fine with me.

Well since I was already knocked out of the garden being a Commerce Bank guinea pig earlier today, I figured I would try for Citi DC. I pretty much knew it would be a denial but what I didn’t expect and am pretty annoyed about is they pulled both EX and TU, especially since my TU should have actually yielded an approval (no baddies other than my BK which falls next year).

We will see what their letter says but 2 new inquiries on TU and 1 new inquiry on EX with no approval is enough to send me back to the garden. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, just adding some DPs.

Was the BK the only reason for denial? I thought Citi was 7 years post BK.

Have to wait for the letter.

I really wish that they would just tell you!

Re: Citi DC - Denied

Denial reasons:

Your credit report shows a derogatory public record or collection filed

Your credit report shows the amount owed on recently opened accounts is too high

Your credit report shows insufficient credit history

They only quoted TransUnion as the CRA used to make the determination which is interesting because it’s my cleanest report.

686 is the score they quoted.

TU has my BK 8/2010 and a $65 unpaid med collection from 2015 but nothing else that’s bad.

It is true that my new accounts are showing balances, but they’re not high. My NFCU Plat was showing 31.8% utilization but that’s now down to 17.22%

Insufficient credit history? My AAoA is 3y, AoOA is approaching 10 years.

I may call them for recon next month after my balances update. I’ll no longer have a balance on BBVA or Disco. Fat chance on getting a $0 reported for my Sync PayPal though.

It says I have 60 days to call them and ask them to recon.
