Maybe for the preapproval. But not the application itself. I am not a member & I have the card.
Also you can look at all the DPs on this to confirm.

It's probably to verify your location! This card is not offered everywhere that AAA has coverage. There is also USbank AAA CC.
I do have AAA membership and this card, however they are not connected at all!
But I always wondered why they would have a brand card that does not require any membership requirement! Now that this card is issued by Comenity and is more popular than before, it wouldn't surprise me if AAA would want to require a membership to obtain this card in the future.
Can anyone post a link to its pre approval??
So, it's been a few months since I posted about the "pre-approved" Comenity AAA Visa Signature Card notices I've continuously receieved in the mail and in my email.
The application stated this card is Pre-Approved and did not have an asterisk! It said an AAA Membership # is required and the application only asked for the last 4 of my SSN.
I finally said 'what the heck' and went ahead and applied. Keep in mind I just burned Comenity last year in BK7 with 2 accounts totalling over $20K. I followed the customized link they sent me, entered my AAA membership ID, and the last 4 of my SSN and was approved instantly for $3K at 30%. Again, not great terms but no annual fee and 0% interest for 12-months.
The really cool part is this was a SOFT PULL. This happened 3 days ago. I've been checking my CRs since and there are no inquiries. I've already rec'd an email from Comenity asking me if I want a virtual account number to use in the meantime.
So, all in alll I guess I'm okay with it. I know from experience Comenity increases CL's about every 4 or 5 months when asked. Still rebuilding after a really bad year in 2022.
Anyway, just wanted to update everyone. Thanks to all who chipped in their 2-cents. I appreciate it! Happy Holidays!
Congrats
@Nyrell I received a pre-approved offer a few days ago so I'm doing some research. Most of my limits are in the $5000+ range so I kind of don't want to go for it and end up with something low (you never know). You've had it for about a year and a half. How have they been for CLIs and did it truely end up being a SP when you applied?
Thanks!
Hey,
It was a SP and the SL was a measly $2,200. They've never raised it, and I've never asked. Honestly, I don't use the card at all. I was disappointed in the CL and the interest rate.
