Swampy ,
My other accounts are one visa dividend card with a 1000.00 limit that I just use here and there to keep revolving credit. It has never been late and holds zero balance.
I have my car payment , never been late and mortgage which I have never been late.
I was approved with my car through GE credit union which is where I got the visa. I had a secured card for a long time rebuilding which I ended up closing but everything is in good standing and payed as agreed. No negative marks anymore.
The other bureaus reflect basically the same information but I don't any scores from them. Except for one wireless bill that I have been fighting over the incorrect balance, maybe I should just pay it but it pisses me off every time I have called to talk to someone I can't get anyone who speaks any English. It's a small balance of 189.00 and the reason why I left the wireless company was bc they couldn't get the billing right to save their lives.
Im so new to credit lingo, I apologize if I ask a lot of questions or explain way too much... Like I just did.
What are limits ?
The ONLY reason I applied for this card was because I wanted to buy the sofa and I have half the money to do it. I figured if I did the 6 months 0 interest and finance the other half , which would be 1,500.00 - I would have that paid off in 2-3 months max, build credit, have my sofa and never use that card again. Meanwhile , showing up on their radar if I need to apply for a card in the future.
I do have about 7 inquires resulting from buying a house and car. When applying for a CC , don't they see these mortgage services and car , which is something of must ?
Do they count these against you just the same as a credit card application ?
When I called the number Ron gave me a second time they told me a letter was mailed and they could not tell me anything over the phone.
I tried the creating account online without cc number but no records were found.
I will probably get letter in the mail today. I will update what it says which I'm sure is a denial. Nothing good happens that fast in the mail.
If you get the letter with the declined reasons then you can use the information as leverage to gain a better chance for approval in the future - provided you still want C&B. Comenity does not have the amazing track record for reconsiderations, since they pretty much stick to the original decision (unless it's a verification issue but still are pretty feisty). Just ask folks like B335is and Creditaddict.
Hi Pizza1,
Thanks for your reply. I hope that happens. Congratulations !! I never thought I'd be excited about furniture.
I was actually coming out of the container store ( funny how I don't like admitting all this shopping for my home ) but being a single man, I do want my house to be my home and I am the only one who is going to do that. My kids are grown but visit me often and I do want them to have a nice comfortable place to sit when they come over for visits and watch a movie.
That day it happened to be pouring raining when I came out of the container store and there was crate and barrel so I walked in hoping the rain would slow down. Next thing I knew I was sitting on all the sofas and I had been looking for a sofa but everything was just.. Alright. I sat on the Lounge II and it was so comfortable. The sofa with chaise will fit perfect. I almost fell asleep sitting on that sofa with that rain going on.... I knew I had to get up or I would have been scarring people with the sounds of my snoring... Such class I bring to C&B lol
the store was kenwood mall ohio store
what are you buying ?
FinStar ,
Overall do you think they look at inquires even when it is shopping for a mortgage or a car loan ?
These will be there for another year so in everyone experience how can you shop for a major purchase without hard pulls ( you cant ) and then later can't get a simple store card because of it ? Do you explain this to them or do they figure it out. I don't understand. I've been so careful.
Tony,
I got denied because of excessive inquries.
Ron.

I totally know what its like to rebuild. I had a BK7 in 2013, but ive been extremely fortunate in my rebuild, as that Ive totally rebuilt my credit in a year and a half. Now, Im working on scores, but that will take a few years of tweaking.
I was curious as where you were located because im in Kansas City, and Live 5 minutes from the C&B store here, and they are building the Container Store across the street, cant wait for that to open!!
When I applied last month for the C&B, i got the 7-10 on the screen, thought it was denial...its wasnt. I got the verfication letter, called in, etc...approved for $2k, and I IIB as well (included in bankruptcy). I was lucky to get back all the store cards I burned.
Im single too, 45...so its hard to rebuild your life from a divorce ( i know), but it will happen..hang in there!! Stick around the forums for valubale info. Lots of sound advice here, and do your research!! ASk questions, post your own questions like you did here, people will respond Good luck to you
