Credit Card Approval Odds

Good afternoon everyone. Thanks to all the help over the summer I was able to secure two credit cards and a car loan after my BK that discharged in June. Since then I have made all my payments on time and kept all my balances below 5% of total utilization. Currently I have (1) DISCOVER cash back rewards card with a limit of $900, a Secured credit card from my credoit union for $150, a an auto loan from TOYOTA Financial services.  Current to date my T/U score is 633, E/F= 660, EX= 665. I  want to add another credit card to my profile however I don't want to just run my credit. Any reconmendations would be great. Thank you.

Re: Credit Card Approval Odds

Best practices would be to wait another 6 months to let the credit age. If you absolutely must scratch that itch, I would recommend trying someone you burned in the BK.

Starting Score: 475
Current Score: 649
Goal Score: 690

Welcome to My Fico.welcome.gif

Congrats on your rebuild thus far.

Since you already have Disco;  Cap One and Amex both have prequal sites, I would start by checking those.

Good Luck!

Re: Credit Card Approval Odds

OP—Good job on your progress so far. I know it’s hard to be patient, but you have to make yourself. Let those new accounts age and grow deeper roots. Growing to fast and shallow will set you up to fall, and you don’t want or need that. Those new accounts should have 6 months of history behind them (bare minimum) before you try for anything new. You very well may get approved now for addition succeed and/or subprime credit cards, but that’s not going to help you in the long run. Wait it out and make sure the juice is wirth the squeeze! Keep an eye on various preapprovals for cards that fit your spend, and target those. Don’t just accumulate to accumulate. Best of luck and we look forward to hearing of your successes and chatting with you in the Garden Club should you decide to join us there while your accounts ferment!
