@Anonymous wrote:@Mv350 Thank you for adding your experiences on here - looks like you're seeing similar reason codes as I am. I know I won't app the card again until my derogs fall off. I thought about it and even if I get a prequal, I think I'll wait. Yeah it could still be denied but even if approved, I'm betting it would be $2000 or so if the derogs are still there. With them gone it may be a good bit more substantial. Worth waiting on until the reports are clean I think.
Those are my thoughts exactly. I would really like to get the card, but not stuck with smaller limit. It would definitely be my first app after 6 months with nothing, and a clean EX (in CA they single pull EX).
Nice, that's a very good card to get on a single HP. My thought is if waiting means an SL around $6k, that's starting a full year ahead of the positioning of the card at $2k, as they seem willing for many to give $2k SP CLIs every six months or so. If waiting a few months yields a result like that, it's worth it for sure.
My scores were roughly the same as yours when I apped for my first Citi card(DC).
Oh boy, what a difference five years makes along with Covid!
I still had a foreclosure on my EQ and TU reporting. That foreclosure was from Citi bank.
I can't remember exactly. I think my SL was $3k? They wouldn't give me a CLI the first 12 months at all.
I had nearly given up, and bam on the 12th month I got a $1400 SP CLI.
That's if my memory serves me. Lol
Well at that point I decided. It's either keep playing around with theses CLIs for years. Or go ahead and tell them what I need in order to get some use out of it.
I immediately requested $20k. Two hours later I received a congratulations email on my approval. That's when I knew I had finally broken through Citi!
The limit that began at $3k went to $32k in 2 year's.
I've since broken off pieces of it to bolster other accounts. Its still at $22k.
Every time I thought I was at max exposure. They'd approve me for more on another CC.
All CLI are HPs for me now because of my exposure with them.
By the way, the first app was a double pull. After that only single pulls. Either EX or EQ.
I have no doubts you'll break through very soon! Once in, it's game on!😆
Awesome feedback @Gmood1 , thank you for that. Nice to know the limits can be pushed. It does seem that Citi is rough on you to get in but once you're in, you're really IN. In time we'll see how much the current economic climate has affected that too
Sorry about the denial. I would honestly wait until your dergos fall off of your report as citi legacy has never liked any sort of derogs and are pretty conservative. You will certainly break in with them, it most likely will be after the derog is off as they dont care how old it is unfortunately.

Yeah that's my take on it too, with the derogs being the first item on the No Soup For You list. And that's fine - I'd like the card and the relationship but I don't need either one. I am a fan of lender diversity and I'm already pretty diverse, so when it happens, it happens. I'll be happy when it does and will not worry in the meantime.
Citi does a single hp for some and a double for others? Mine was a single HP in March 2020 (GA) diamond preferred. Does it matter which state and card you app for?

It was only a double pull on my first app with them. A single HP on the last 6 apps.
I've never had a double pull. 2 personal and 2 business
eta: so maybe the State of residence matters?
Nevermind- I found it does depend on the card according to this:https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/General-Credit-Topics/The-quot-Which-Banks-Pull-Which-Report-For-Ap...
Yes states play a factor... Citi always tries to get two from me, but I limit them to 1 knowing what they really want being EQ so stop the other one.. I have a clean profile, but i know how they work in the state I live in so keep the one CRA they are basing their decision on open and get my approvals without the double pull sting they would normally get me on.
