Did I overshoot with AMEX?

On a rather impatient whim, I applied for the Amex Delta and was approved with a starting line of 2k. I pushed my luck and applied for a PRG, no dice and was denied. I went back and tried for the BCE and it says app pending and today says in progress, which was expected.

Did I push it too far? Should I call the back door number?

It's always a good idea to do this. At the very least, someone will hear you out, find out why you want what you want and hopefully try and sway the odds into your favor. At most, they'll approve you with high CL. Always be kind with them! Smiley Very Happy

Use any door you can get into and make it known how much you want this to go through. I'd do the backdoor because it's puts you directly in contact with someone who has a lot of pull but the regular CS number could work and they can get you to a supervisor if needed.

Re: Did I overshoot with AMEX?

Back door gave me the standard party line, decisioned in 5 days. Call back on tomorrow to check on it. Then they gave me another number to call and they gave me the on hold for 5 days line, call back on the 27th.

Not sure how that's going to play out, but I'm guessing the bored tone does not bode well for my chances.

Not to encourage you or give you false hope but I would call the backdoor number and speak to a different person. Make it clear that you've already spoken with customer service and that they are unable to give you more information. Ask if there's any information you can provide them that can help them approve you.

Re: Did I overshoot with AMEX?

I did. I spoke to two people at two different numbers, one of which being the back door number. Same party line, no additional info needed. Just on hold as a security measure because the delta card was an instant approval.
