Hey guys, sorry if this question has already been asked/answered; but with 22 pages of replies, I was getting dizzy reading through them haha.
I see many of you have moved the 1st card's limit to the 2nd card. But has anyone opened a 2nd discover and then moved that limit over to their first discover card? I only ask because I don't want to close my 1st discover card because it's my oldest line of credit and with an already short credit history, I don't want to make it shorter.
Hmm I am confused. I have had my first hard since 11/17 limit now 2.4K, got my sceond card 12/18 with measly1K tried to combine the second with the first and was told I couldn't. I had said I wasn't happy with the intial line on second and they said I could not combine and did I just want to close it.
@AverageJoesCredit wrote:Hey guys, im not sure if this thread will stick but i figured id give it a try to create a thread only related for those looking to app a second Discover card, most likely the It card but since their selection isnt that big other cards could be included.
Though their is another Discover unofficial data point thread, i want this one to be more focused for those considering apping a second Discover card so they can see data points from those of us who have experiencd this. Please include , if you remember, your Fico score when applied, and any pertinent info like previous credit limit, any promos offered with app like 0% apr, bt offers etc.
If this doesnt last or gets merged i understand but hopwfully the few of us who have closed our first Discover cards and reapped can shed light to those thinking of doing soThanks everyone, ill begin......

Can’t combine unless you’re eligible for a CLI on the receiving card. It’s stupid but that’s their system. Basically try for a CLI and when it offers you one, cancel it and immediately call them and they can reallocate or combine.
No pre-qualify offers for me.
I don't dare wish to fill out an entire app.
According to Discover score card, I am 639 with Transunion as of 2-17. It updates once per month, next update will be 3-17
I've had my Disco It for exactly one year. I think my starting limit was $2k. A month or so ago I jumped up to $5,300. I had been asking regularly and would get $500 here and there, maybe more with the double dip.
I tried the prequal app and there was nothing for me. I'll try again next month.
