Discover CLI and update of Credit Scorecard

Hello,

I was wondering if when you request a CLI from Discover they pull the day you request the CLI or they use whatever they last used for their account review soft pulls?

Is there a way to update their Credit Scorecard manually?

Online it shows Nov 12th as last day the scorecard was updated, but on my statement it shows Oct 31st and it states (updated monthly).

So I guess the next update will happen on the 12th of December online?

Not sure if their own scorecard makes any difference to them when you request a CLI, but my scores have gone up since they last updated their credit scorecard and I requested my TU file and it shows that Discover did an account review on NOv 30th. So I wonder if they will use that info for their next scorecard update on the 12th of Dec?

Will they most likely pull transunion for the soft pull if I request a CLI?

Thanks, my closing statement is on the 6th so I hope that if approved, they will report this increase if I request it even tomorrow the 5th?

Head about to explode!!!! thanks for any insight on this.

Re: Discover CLI and update of Credit Scorecard

When dealing with HP CLI, it's typically a fresh report. For lenders who do SP CLI, it can be reports they've already accessed, which can be a couple months old.

Re: Discover CLI and update of Credit Scorecard

thanks for replying.

I understand all creditors are different and there are no definitive answers, but from what you are saying and what I see on my TU, it would look like Discover may use the Nov 30 account review I see on my TU.

My scores increased on Dec 1st. TU on the 30th was not showing US bank's reporting (which I paid a large amount to), so I am very interested in knowing if Discover will hopefully be using a fresh SP when I hit the CLI vs the account review done on the 30th.

Thanks

Re: Discover CLI and update of Credit Scorecard

I can tell you that on my 86,234 Disco CLI denial letters the score is the same as the most current score that is displaying on my Disco app. Mine usually updates on the 14th, not sure if everybody's does. I'd imagine that's the score they use. If you are trying to dress up your report, it might be worth waiting until the next update.

Of course, if they hate you like they hate me, you can dress it up all you like and you'll still get a denial! 😂

The beautiful thing about Disco is that you can ask, and if you don't like what they say there is nothing preventing you from asking again when you think they have performed their next SP on you. I mean, don't click the button every day, but there are months I get bored and hit it twice per month. Some hit it weekly. Never heard of anything bad happening other than a "No."

At some I keep hoping they'll realize that giving me a CLI will stop the money they are hemorrhaging by mailing me so many denial letters. I keep waiting on them to at least offer me a bonus to go green and take a paperless denial letters offer from now on! 😂😂

I have dressed up for success.. lol I also made another payment to them. So it can post before closing and then I will request a CLI.

I hear you though, I have requested CLI on this card several times before and never granted one. Then I applied to for a second It card and was approved. So go figure. I have been using this card now and paying it down in big chunks and let's see if maybe having done this helps. If not. so be it.

Did you get that Paypal Card from the get go with that credit line? Who issues this card for Paypal? I do use paypal a lot, not sure if this means anything to them, so I am just wondering. Thanks

The PayPal Mastercard is issued by Synchrony. I got it last Nov with a SL of $6500 and asked for a CLI at 3 mos and was declined, asked at 6 mos and was bumped to $10K, and asked a few weeks ago at 1 year and was bumped to $15K. My Sync Summit card grew from $1K to $10K as well, so Sync cards have grown really fast for me.
It is a no frills flat 2% card, but the rewards can be transferred as cash to PayPal account and then used it transferred with no fees to your bank account. There are no rewards thresholds you have to meet either. Hi could redeem 25 cents if you wanted to.😂

Until I got the flat 3% AOD card, the PayPal was our catch all non categorized spend card. I'd recommend it for a great everyday card. You manage the card directly through your PayPak account. They don't do text alerts (which I like to have on my cards) but they now do instant email purchase alerts that I have setup to notify me on my phone, so it works for me.

My credit profile was nothing like it is now when I got my Discover card. I've wondered for a while now if my card is bucketed or something. I've even called asked for a manual review and told I'd be fine with a HP to no avail. I have a credit specialist flat tell me that he didn't understand why the system would not approve a CLI. We cycled almost $40K through the card the first year we had and always PIF. It was the only card I had besides the Summit store card and we literally cycled everything we dollar we spent besides Mortgage and auto loan payments through it.

I mean I complain and bellyache about not getting CLIs, but I really can't complain too much. With the cash back match we earned nearly $1300 in cash back on that card in the first year.

DW just got her own Disco It and we are going use it for the 5% categories (10% with cash back match) for the year. Sometime in 2022 I might apply for another It card for myself to get the 10% cashback match again and maybe it will be a healthier SL.
