First time wanting to app for a NFCU card. Which one is recommended to get first?
TU score 780 total uti is 3% but will be a bit less since CRA's have not updated my payments.
Have not done much with my accounts- deposit small amounts here and there and have paid a bill or 2. No direct deposit. Just opened a joint checking with the hubs and he has the flagship checking account/savings. We park money in his account we intend to use to buy a house next year when all his stuff ages off the end of this year.

It is my understanding (from reading here on the forum) that the underwriting criteria is pretty much the same for all the unsecured cards, except the Flagship. The Flagship has a higher min SL of $5000. As such, for underwriting on that card, you would need to meet the threshhold for the higher SL. That being said, you should go for the card that will suit your lifestyle and spending habits the best.
Hope this helps.
Makes sense. Thanks for answering.
I joined Navy last September 2018. They gave a $500 cashRewards Card. after 91/3 I applied for Flagship and CLOC, got denied. Every couple of weeks after I applied again. Intant Denial.
Jan 10th, I applied for Flagship - Approved $5k SL. Thought what the hell apply for cli on Rewards. It went to $1500. Although I only asked for that.
Applied for Amex every month, since got denied. 3 weeks ago, got approved for 6k Navy Amex and figured why not apply for CLOC again. Asked for 15k go approved 15k SL.
My scores are in mid 600's.
Navy is awesome. I don't do direct deposit and only ran a bit through the Rewards Visa everymonth.
I was approved for $10k at 11.99% with 200k+ income for the Cash Rewards about a few weeks ago. YMMV but they didn't pull FICO8 as expected. They used the old classic model which gave a TU score of 620.
Navy is an odd bird to say the least when it comes to this stuff. +1 to pretty much the same UW for all the cards and the major exception is with the Flagship which has an AF and a minimum of 5k SL. Saying that, if you shoot over to the Navy CLI and Second Card thread... you'll see some mixed emotions as to Navy approvals as of late.
I'm currently in the mid 600s and was blessed with 7800 SL on the Cash Rewards and my file isn't the cleanest. My wife whose profile I cleaned up nicely is approaching the 700s and got 1k SL on the Cash Rewards and the reasoning was a "lack of prior CU relationship"... lol soooo it's hard to really nail down what they are looking for and what would be an easier option.
My recommendation is to look at the reward structures and see what fits for you right now. There are SUBS with all the cards currently as well which might sway your decision. In any event...good luck on your quest. May the force be with you...!!
Cheers!

Please excuse my ignorance but what does SUBS stand for? Thanks in advance.
