Gearing up for Amex 3x cli request...

Hey all, January 2 is D-day for my Amex 61-day cli request. I've run about $2000 through my BCE since birth (SL $2000). Statement cuts tomorrow with about $50 showing.

I've also run about $1500 through a PRG that has a current balance of $500, that statement cuts in three days.

So, should I pay the PRG down to zero before the statement cuts, let it post $500 and PIF before my CLI request, or something in between?

Happy Holidays!!! IMO, you don’t really need to do anything special. If your scores are good, your income supports the CLI, and clearly you’ve used the card and PIF then go ahead and ask for the increase.

AMEX is a grower if you use your card responsibly and maintain good credit habits. (That’s my theory with most cards, lol).

You ought to be fine. AMEX only seems to care about responsible behavior. It doesn't care so much about which route you take to get there. If you want to pay off the PRG because it's convenient, go ahead. If you'd rather pay closer to the due date, that should be fine too.

Thanks for the replies...unfortunately denied. Called in, got the laundry list of reasons. I thought I was pretty well situated: 730s, good usage and pif, low util., I think it was too many new accounts (3 in last three months) and too many recent inquiries (5 on Experian, all bank cards) that got me. Told to try again in 90 days.

Sorry to hear but more or less now you know what to do next couple months Keep it clean, hold off on the apps and continue to use your card, theyll cave in sooner or later, hopefully sooner

Just got denied to for the same increase. 2K to 6K. Low FICO score was the reason. Same score as when I opened the card.

Just got 2 collection removed. Hoping that gives me a nice score boost and I will have better luck in 90 days
