Can someone please tell me how long you need to have an Amex account before they will approve you for a charge card?
I was going for the PRG with the 50k points sign up bonus but got denied due to not having long enough history with Amex. I’ve had my ED and BCE for two months.
My AAoA is 1 year and my EX score is 715. When should I try again? 3 months? 6 months?
I don't think that was their main reason. I got the PRG after being a cardholder for 2 months, with EX score lower than yours. The PRG is also plenty of people's first card with Amex.
Were other reasons listed on the denial?
Wait until all accounts are at least six months old. Problem looks to be too many new Amex accounts. Prg was my first Amex card so you don't need to be a member to get it. I'd look at the other reasons in denial letter.

Not long. From getting my delta to getting a charge card it was 3 days. you are good to go if you want it with current scores. The charge cards are easier to get than the revolvers. does not matter which one you go for. As long as you can justify the AF
FWIW, I got my first AMEX about two weeks ago, an Everyday card. Four days after being approved, I applied for the PRG and was approved.
