How risky do you think receiving routine CLIs are right now? I probably will add a total of 10% - 15% to my limits and I'm not increasing utilization (which is at 4%). Plan to app for one or two new cards in Sept and want to make sure the increases in my limits will not be viewed as aggressive credit seeking.
Appreciate your opinions.
If your employer reports salary information to The Work Number and you are relying on income as an individual that may help your case.
If your employer reports salary information to The Work Number but you are relying on household income, if creditor pulls that information then creditor may choose to deny or request 4506-T.
An important note is that household income that isn't from married filing jointly should not be used with Disco now since the 4506-T won't verify the other income.
I still ask and usually get them all other then discover, but well that is discover .. As long as your situation is good and not over exposed with a lender say 70k with sync with 50k income i probably wouldnt do that as an example, but otherwise lenders really havent changed to much imho and from my exerpiences since CV-19 has been around. After all they want to still make money and if they think they can they will grant you the credit assuming your income/credit/profile etc supports it. Easieset time to get money is when you dont need it the hardest time to get money is when you need it is how I see it. So nothing has really changed with my CLI request or opening new accounts for that matter
I'll echo what @CreditCuriosity said. Really just depends on the lender and your own profile. I've applied for and been granted new credit and asked for numerous CLIs the past 5 or 6 months. A few of the CLIs were denied, but not entirely unexpected from me (example: I ask Discover at least once a month and they grant them 1 to 3 times a year for me) and I don't think current economic situation played any role in that.
Same here with disco, She's a stingy one!
I was just approved for $3,500 with Synchrony/Sport for a new bike (bike was $3k with everything). I got access to the mobile app once I got the card number and immediately asked for a CLI. Instantly approved for $5k. Mind you, they had a recent report of me in front of them so it was easy for them to make that decision.
I got $1,000 Discover increases 3 months in a row (Apr-Jun). They denied me in July with the only reason of "Not enough experience with current credit limit".
Citi was good for both cards (AA Plat and Best Buy). $1,500 soft pull AA and $3,900 hard pull for BB.
AMEX hasn't budged since I've acquired the card in Dec 2018. Just asked in June and they said no. Will try again in Dec.
Anybody have some luck with Chase recently?
