I'm sure my low CL's are based on my secured cards on my CR's. I hadn't used ANY credit the last 7+ year's and started to raise my scores from the mid 500's in Jan to my current 790 EX & 720 TU & EQ. My scores were low, not because I had major derogs, I just hadn't used or applied for any credit in 7+ year's. Hoping now that I got my foot in the door and given an opportunity to prove myself, the higher CL's will follow, just like my scores from Jan to June.
If you are looking for higer credit limits Amex is one of the best credit card companies around. You can grow your limits very quickly. Once you have one card with a high limit, you will find new apps will start you off with a higher limits. It will also be easier to get higher limits with your other cards.
Just treat Amex right and they will treat you right.
Yeah, 550 -> 720/790 is an incredible score increase. Just give it time and you will start to get the higher limits, too.
Good Luck!
