Macy's App Message

Apped for Macy's today and received this message:

MACY'S AMERICAN EXPRESS® CARDThank You for Your Application, M*****

We have received your application and will need to process it further. We will contact you with our decision within 2 weeks via U.S. Mail.

Was curious since it specifically says "Macy's American Express" - is it likely to be an approval or denial?  I'm ok with just having the store card if the Amex isn't offered but the fact that it specifically said Amex confused me.  When you app for the card, it considers you for both, not just Amex, correct?

I’m 99% sure that’s a decline. With citi retail it’s either instant approval or a message with a reference code to call in and verify info. The two weeks message is 9 times out of 10 a decline.

It’s not necessarily a denial it could be lots of things. I applied for a Macy’s card 2 months back and got the same exact message. Got a letter in the mail saying I needed to call them and they just wanted to know which card I wanted.

Most likely an approval.  Call and say you're calling to verify your info or if they need more info from you.
