Minimum score for AMEX?

Hi everybody, Avid reader here on the forums but first post. I have been wanting to get an AMEX card for a while. My wife was approved for the Delta Gold for 1K, Hilton for 6K and also the platinum back in December. I am a authorized user on her account. But it just doesn't feel right now having my own. Call me crazy lol.

Anyway here is my report from Experian.

661 score. 19 Accounts. UTI is 4%. Discover it 5.5K Barclay Rewards 1K Apple rewards 1.5K Arrival 1K NFL $700. Macy's 1.4K CFNA 1.2K. 24 inquires.

My main question what is the minimum score for any type AMEX? And which is easiest? I have herd that 670 is the magic number? Not sure how true tho.

Any replies are much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Minimum score for AMEX?

Welcome to the forum

Cards by score are different

Charge cards are easiest to get and require scores in the range of 650

More info needed in your case tho

Baddies?

HP's? by each CB and why so many?

How many of the 19 TL's are yours?

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Minimum score for AMEX?

Only thing bad is 1 med collection for $700 in October 15,. NEVER a late payment I only know my Experian inquires as of know my EQ and TU are frozen so I have to access them. Majority of them are from Car buying this summer for 3 different dealers. The 19TL's 17 are open 2 are closed paid in full loans. And 17 are all mine.

I don't see the med being a high value concern as Fico 08 scores that low

What Amex card are you looking to get?

Re: Minimum score for AMEX?

Interested in the Everyday or Every day preferred I read some where that they have the same underwriting, not sure how true tho. And also a charge card preferably the PRG or a standard Gold or even Green.

Ok here are the facts

All charge cards have the same UW

PRG is a better choice than GRN

ED & EDP same UW

BCE & BCP same UW

So if you feel comfortable and want PRG and ED/EDP

App PRG 1st if approved then app ED/EDP 2nd

The reason you do it this way is to maximize the HP trying to get 2 cards for 1 HP

If the PRG is approved your chances of even if ED/EDP is not approved it will be a SP for the second app because you were a customer once PRG was approved

But if approved for both YMMV 2 cards 1 HP in some rare cases 2 HP's

I've done this twice 4 cards 2 HP's

Re: Minimum score for AMEX?

Ok gotcha, once approved the 2nd app will be a SP. And pretty much all charge card have same UW and vice versa. That being said. Do you think my score of 661 and INGs will be approved for the PRG? Annual income is around 40K.

Thank you for the quick replies and all the help. Much appreciated!

Re: Minimum score for AMEX?

Can you do it the opposite way around as well journey if they value the ED/EDP higher than the PRG?

This all boils down to how many HP's are on EX because that's who they'll pull and if borderline they may pull EQ as well

Reason I suggested PRG 1st is because your scores fit the profile now and I thiink you look good anything else if approved is a bonus (ED/EDP)

Also before you app PRG search for the 50k points for 1k spend do not app for the 25k points for 2k spend

If your going to do this get the best offer/deal

Do I think if you reversed the order you would get the ED/EDP 1st no sorry I believe in honesty

But the other route I suggested I think you stand a better chance for 2
