I happened to chat with Navy a few days ago and asked if a request for a CLI is a soft or hard pull. The rep said all CLI requests are hard pulls. I don't know if this applies to a pre-approved offer or invite but she said if I hit the CLI button on my Go Rewards it would result in a hard pull. She put emphasis on all CLI requests are hard pulls. With that in mind I did not click on the CLI. Just my two cents.
Many have reported having similar conversations with a NFCU CSR on the phone, and it makes sense as it expedites the conversation.
If they tell everyone to expect a HP nobody can complain later if/when it does happen, and if it so happens that there is no HP they aren't likely to get a complaint about that, either. Trying to explain the nuances of the every-other month AR - not to mention that even then there can be a HP - would take too much time and would open them up to having to deal with misunderstandings and complaints.
Telling everybody to expect a HP keeps things simple.
So, I think we've established that nobody really knows, or at least it can/will/may/has/hasn't/sometimes/maybe be different for everyone, and there is no absolute answer.
Exactly.
To sum it up, here's what we do know (for now):
I still suggest for anybody who might be looking for a CLI to wait until an AR for the best chance of avoiding a HP (if that is a concern), but it will always be a coin-toss.

Exactly.
To sum it up, here's what we do know (for now):
- NFCU does a soft-pull account review (AR) every other month
- CLI requests after an AR (or shortly thereafter) sometimes have no HP
- Anytime you request a CLI with NFCU, expect a HP and be pleased if there's not one
I still suggest for anybody who might be looking for a CLI to wait until an AR for the best chance of avoiding a HP (if that is a concern), but it will always be a coin-toss.
I have read where if the CLI is INSTANT---SP---If goes to review ie; 24 hrs, 3-5 days etc..HP.....My FICO score AR was listed as updated on 7/12..NEXT AR will be 9/12--my 91 days/3rd staement will be 8/17-----I will expect HP for my 91 day CLI

Well said Uncle B.

I’m aware I’m a little late in this thread, but hopefully I’ll get a response. Is there a certain timeframe or window I should say as to how long after the AR you have to request a CLI with the possible SP? As in one day, five days, a week? I also have noticed on my EQ credit report that the last two AR’s for me took place on 24 Oct and 26 Dec 2017. So is it possible that my next one should be around 24 Feb 2018?
Please review :
NFCU AR's occur on odd months; January, March, May, July, September and November. Best chance for a SP is on those months. In the above thread many people gleefully post in each of those months the specific day that they saw the SP account review hit their credit report. I'd say wait for them to post that and give it a try. Usually it is within the first week of the odd months.
My last AR was 4 January 2018.

Rdrarmy,
Stretching on this one, but maybe it has something to do with where you live. I just check my last AR and it was done 12/26/17. I reside in California and its where I opened my accounts. Which state do you live in?

Call me crazy, but they probably do every other month and what month depends on when they originally did a hp when you had your first product with them. So odd or even months is pure luck as to what month your relationship started...
