NFCU CCs

My DH is a combat veteran. He forgot that he had an NFCU membership which was opened in 2002. Thankfully he was able to get access to the old account & reactivate it without issue. Now he is looking to apply for a personal loan and a CC. His scores are in the low 700s, no derogs/lates with 3 credit cards, 30% overall UTL.  Would he have a good chance at getting either the personal loan or CC with NFCU because of his history with them? Or do they want to see activity in the checking/savings account?

Re: NFCU CCs

Length of membership is in his favor.

Have DH call in to see if he has any pre-approvals on the CC.

It'll be TU pull for CC
It'll probably be EQ pull for loan.

Re: NFCU CCs

BTW you should become a member too if you have not applied. TU soft pull for membership.

If Dh has been a member since 2002, He may have a good internal score?

My opinion is call for the credit card pre-approval as mentioned and apply for the personal loan at the same time.

If he can manage to get his total utilization under 28.9% He will see a slight boost in his scores.

Your FICO credit scores are not just numbers, it’s a skill.
