@RobynJ wrote:Does anyone know if when graduating from nrewards to cash rewards does that count as a new card? So would it be 3/90 or 6/180 for a CLI?
While graduating does change it from a nRewards to a cashRewards, I don't think it counts as a new account. Therefore you'd have to wait 181 days/6 statements.
@GZG wrote:Does anybody else have their pending transactions disappear and then reappear when they are posted? Is this just a Navy thing or a nRewards thing?
The available credit seems to be correct, but the transactions do this thing where they disappear after they've been pending and reappear as posted transactions after a little while.
Yes, it's a Navy Fed thing. It clears up after the next nightly batch processing is finished, which happens on Monday through Thursday nights, except on holidays. I've seen this happen on my nRewards, cashRewards, and MoreRewards CCs.

It doesn't count as a new card. In 2018, 2019, and early 2020, most nRewards secured CCs graduated with a CL at $2,000 (or the same as their secured CL if higher). Many new graduates immediately sent a secure message to Navy Fed requesting a higher CLI. In that era, if the credit profile warranted it, the CL could be increased above $2,000. If not, then the new graduate got the "No CLI approved due to recent change" message. In the last 2 years, I haven't seen any reports of new graduates getting a higher CL than $2,000, unless they had an nRewards secured CC with an already higher CL.
Since you just graduated, I recommend asking for a CLI via online message, explaining your perfect payment history, $0 balances, monthly payments in full, high income, low debt, etc. (List all the reasons you deserve and can handle a larger CL.) Hope for the best but expect that you'll probably have to wait 6 full billing cycles and 6 months + 1 day to get approved for the $6,000 CL on your new cashRewards CC.
(got no traction in the business sub)
I was told by Navy that my self-employment payments into my checking don't qualify as direct deposit because they aren't coded as direct deposit from an employer.
Has anybody created a business checking account, had their payments from self-employment sent to their business checking account and then have your account marked as having direct deposit w/Navy? This is what support told me to do on the phone. I tried recon'ing their decision in secure message and they were firm that DD needs to come from an employer
Every other bank has classifed my ACH self-employment payments as direct deposit (BOA, chase checking SUB), but not Navy.
So I became a NFCU member in late July and got a $200 secured card at the same time. In August I got a $3001 pledge loan as well.
I applied for the Go Rewards card on Sep 18 and got denied. Waited 1 day used the same HP to apply for the Platinum card got denied as well. Received my denial letter today, it says "You've reached navy federal's maximum unsecured credit limit". My understanding is it means I am not eligible to get an unsecured card right now, but when I should try again? Are there anything I can do to imporve my odds of approval next time?My FICO 9 TU is 681, and the internal NFCU internal score is 236. Thanks.

Yes, it sounds like they're not willing to extend you any unsecured credit at the moment. That's supported by the internal score, which is really low. Around 275 is where people start to see success. If possible, work on any negatives. Have you got checking and a direct deposit set up? Otherwise, you might have to let the relationship age.

I am not sure any of the Bolded blue^^^ really helps? , also seeing if @Jnbmom could chime in on that?
I have not had (1) direct deposit since joining May 2019, No Flagship checking,
and usually keep less than $100 in combined regular Checking / Savings.
Never a mortgage or car loan with them.
I guess I have some time, but since 2019 ..that is not long.
I have had (1) PL that I paid off realtively fast. (three months),
Had one open $3010 SSL for less than one year;

I wonder if the bolded factors help the internal score (and Navy's willingness to "look past negative aspects of the FICO score/Credit Report") when the FICO score isn't high enough to support a high internal score without improving the relationship itself first.
Like a 680 FICO + well established relationship = 720 FICO with no relationship in terms of Navy UW. Making the numbers up, but something along those lines.

Agreed. First off, I'm not sure why everyone always recommends Flagship checking. I have regular Everyday Checking and seem to be doing alright. The only other thing I have (besides the mandatory savings) is DD, but even that was only for the bonus CB on the CashRewards. As far as money with them, I've only got around $300 or so in my accounts. Still, my score is around 280ish, so as I said, I think I'm doing alright.
