Hello For clarification When i am looking for the start date of my 91 days before I apply for my second card am I looking at the date on my first statement that shows when I was charged the fast card fee which is the same day i got approved? it was ordered june 17. so 91 days from that date? Already got 3 statements so thats good. I just want to make sure i am not doing it from the wrong date. Also has anyone been approved for a 2nd card when they made large payments monthly but still have 90% credit usage? Thank you in advance!!!

@Anonymous   It's 91 days from approval date. So if it was instant, then it's that day, or if it went to review and approved a few days later, it's that day.  When the card shipped out or showed on your acct is useful, but its not when the 91/3 started.

In some cases going a day or 2 past the 91/3 isn't the end of the world either, they will grow with no problem provided your DTI is in check and your income can support the limit.

@gjean78   Yes they are.   They are also the largest one in the US as well.

Thank you so much and I think you are right!! NFCU is theee bomb. Wonder what my third card will be. already excited lmao. Wonder if I should apply for the CLOC?

@Anonymous  So if you think it will fit your credit goals then it's worth getting.   I will say this, it will be another HP most likely on EQ9 as it's more of a loan type then a card type.  Ironically, it counts towards Util too.   I wouldnt advise using it much as the insterest starts immediately, but if you choose to use it once and PIF that isn't frowned on too much Smiley Happy

Same here. With lower income and how much Navy does give out, i think until i'm clean profile wise, i'm at my maximum with them for now.

As i build more history, i'd say the door will open up again once more.

Yeah I think AJC said he has like $17K Navy exposure with the same $18K I have so I'll just wait until my BK is gone and see if I can get a $2K More Rewards from them. Definitely don't want to burn any more HPs for the dreaded "no" - I already burned one on EQ for CLI and one on TU for the third card.

Yeah i'm at 112% TCL vs. Income with them, so i'm sure the dirty profile is the only thing holding me back now, or i just maybe at max exposure which for what they have given me, is fine.   I'm just a CLI junkie, but not for HPs anymore.

Besides, it's not so bad for some that still 2+yrs later isnt rocking a 700 yet Smiley Very Happy

Re: Navy Federal Thread for CLI and Additional Cards

I hear, (read), so many different stories on this forum, it is hard to keep track. I am in a credit card tag situation. I just got approved for a $95K VA refinance with cash out loan, and they have a DTI limit. My income is dismal, see my sig below. I need to use CC's to fix the home to get a better apprasial, that is where the CC tag comes in.

I got a NFCU cashRewards card instant approval on Jul 5th, (activated it). Only $1K but I am in the door.

My total util is 7% today, and total SL about $23.5K on a less than $20K income, but less on credit reports. Veterans United says my DTI is about 35%, (but much higher in real life).

Does NFCU use their card(s) util or total util? My NFCU card is my lowest interest card so transferred balances. That puts it at about 60% util single card, 7% total. Will that hurt me next month when I ask for a CLI?

I have the cash to PIF, but need cash right now. But if my chanches are good to get a CLI, it is worth it. Lower a single card, or keep the cash. If NFCU takes me to $10K that will lower my total util to under 30% AFTER I spend a fortune to remodel the house. Other wise, closer to 50%

Question is; PIF NFCU card and ask for a CLI?

Or take my chances with a single NFCU card with high util?

Good to hear that someone has passed TCL to income with them. I'm at 83% TCL to income, 80% if you take out my tiny CLOC from the equation, and there aren't many DPs about exposure beyond income so yes that gives me hope for next year. I'll just wait. Smiley Happy

Honestly (and YMMV)  neither is a good situation.    Navy bases it on your DTI overall and payment history, not just UTIL on their or any cards you have for that matter.    DTI is more of an indicator that you will be able to repay what you borrow, which is why it seems like Navy gives more than anyone else, they just know what you should be able to pay and gives you that right up front instead of small CLI like the others.

So based on your income and DTI, i would say keep the cash and try for the CLI after 91/3, but honestly i can't say with any certain that you would or wouldn't get one..  if you do i doubt it would be much with your DTI/income what they are.   YMMV so i could be wrong, but even on paper you look risky to me, but i am not the one with decades of EXP like they are.

Yeah, just barely. With a clean profile and good history  (i'll be at 5-6yrs by then) i would say that surpassing income with low DTI/income wouldn't be as much of a stretch for them since an established pattern of responsible use and history.

I have no idea, but i'll find out when i get to that point.
