Re: Navy Federal UPDATED CLI and 2ND ACCOUNT THREAD

Also, I guess I could ask for your advice on this as well. I already have the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred, which basically gives me more or equal amount back on the More Rewards, minus the dining portion, which is all I'm using this card for. Do you see any benefit moving to the Go Rewards? I was looking to possibly getting the World Mastercard, but wasn't sure if it's worth calling and getting the product switched.

I do not hold either of the cards you're referring to so I wouldn't know enough to suggest one over the other.  You'd be best served researching the different NFCU categories that align to your spend to determine the best value.  Remember, just because NFCU gives you an AMEX doesn't mean it aligns or provides any of the benefits of a card specifically issued from AMEX...it just runs the charges on the AMEX network and works at retailers that accept AMEX.  The "More Rewards" is in fact just that...it gives you greater rewards on more categories than the GO so I don't know that it makes sense to do a Product Change to the other card.  Unless you're going to a lot of places or live where AMEX is not widely accepted, I would not do a PC to the GO. IMHO...

I am 1 year out of Ch7, had a secured card, unsecured at 5 months with $2K limit, been keeping util under 10%, PIF each month, and 6 months after the unsecuring (beginning of this month) requested a CLI (it was a SP - through the mobile app) and got a CLI to $4,500 (I had requested $20K - which is what I read on another Forum should be the request).     It was easy-peasy, and I'll do it again in another 6 months.

NFCU is very good to have.

@md_rebuild, Congrats on your increase,

They use TU for new accounts and EQ for CLI as of lately they have not been doing HPs for CLIs but that's subject to change . It will be a HP for new card. Your timeline it's safe to apply . I would go for card first then CLI.

As for the 91/3 that's the standard but it's best to not ask them and keep those tidbits to the forums .

Just want to add, It is usually a HP when requesting on the phone.

Re: Navy Federal UPDATED CLI and 2ND ACCOUNT THREAD

I got a Navy Federal platinum card in March.  I ended up waiting 6 months (August) to get a CLI for it.  So, I know I can't get another CLI on it until March 2021, six months from the August approval date.  However, after getting the card in March, I didn't want to app for a new card just yet, as I wanted to pay down some other cards and get my utilization on my AZEO card below 30%.  It is finally below 30%, and will report at the end of the month.  So, after it reports, in early December, I want to app for another Navy Federal card.

My question: do you have to wait six months after a CLI approval to request a new card (second card), too, or just six months between CLI?

Thanks.

Re: Navy Federal UPDATED CLI and 2ND ACCOUNT THREAD

Glad I poked around on this thread...  after seeing a CLI request online doesn't seem to result in a HP, I decided to give it a try...  I had a SIggy at $16K and an AMEX More Rewards at $13K - requested a $4K increase on both cards at the same time.

Within a matter of hours, I was approved on both, now $17K and $20K respectively.   No HP.

EQ FICO 9 as reported on the Navy site is 766.

I hadn't actually requested an increase in 12 months since I was looking to keep inquiries to an absolute minimum, but had received a few little increases randomly.  I'll be hitting that Request button again in 6 months.  Hopefully it's still working with no HP.

Thanks to everybody on this thread for the DPs and insights.
