@shane1978 Every six months.
I have applied for cli with high usage at the time and it was no problem. I think its mixed on this. I had 75%util on one card and 60% on my other last year and was able to get increases on both. Since then I have gotten 2 more clis and got a 3rd card and paid down most of my balances.
@usaallegiancestore wrote:anyone have experience with asking for an increase with a high utilization on the cards? or maybe i thought about applying for the 3rd card and maybe transferring some of the balance so it is not so high.
Good Info.
I made an Approvals post, but I'll add here to condense my whole experience to date for the DPs.
Joined Navy 12/18/2020, took out $7000 personal loan after approval, then opened Platinum card (I had gotten a mailer invite). Approved for $1000.
Hit my 91/3, knew I wouldn't go over $3000 for the CLI regardless, so I asked and received on 3/19/2021. I've been paying more than the due amount on the loan.
Decided not to app for card number two yet - on 4/1/2021 my only derog would enter its natural dropoff month. Decided to wait for this to happen. Derog fell on 4/4/2021.
On 4/11/2021 I apped for cashRewards with a clean TU. Loan was paid about a month and a half ahead at this time, and Platinum was holding a $446 balance. In the Navy app my TU09 was 750, updated a few days before. Filled out the app, submitted, and was approved in less than ten seconds for a cashRewards Visa Signature at 12.99% with an SL of $25,000.
Not sure if paying the loan ahead helped but I'm sure it didn't hurt. I've run the Platinum up to about 60% and paid it off a couple times since opening it, and I have a portion of my weekly direct deposit sent to Navy for the loan payments. I ACH my card payments and any extra for the loan as well, from my local daily driver CU.
Overall it's been a great almost-four months with them and I'm looking forward to the future with a third card maybe next year if needed, and hopefully to refinance my Audi as well. Scores and utilization in signature are valid currently, for DP comparison.

Great DP! 👍
My first card was the secured for $500 on 8/20. Has yet to graduate. My second card didn't yield much...a MR for a measly $1k after my 91/3. Soooo I'm holding off on my 3rd card until my file is cleaner - at least until my collection with PRA is paid/deleted, which should be within the month. We'll see how my scores react to being collection free and only having one unpaid CO. Fingers crossed my scores rebound big time! 🤞
@OmarGB9 I'm crossing my fingers for you - hope it pays off big
Thanks man.. Great Job i'm similarly to that.

Excellent - they're something else aren't they?
Yes terrific!! Keep that transunion clean & show them money flow as well as manage the accounts you already have with them and your good
So my question is ..
I am coming up on my 91/3..
I have a platinum card with Nfcu of cl..3k 5.99 and a $3150 loan $248 bal.
I have 1 CO (paid) won't fall off Tu Until 9/23. How bad will that effect my chances for desent 2nd card or Cli on my first??
