I am pretty sure Nerd is just like CK, just paid advertisements and they get a kick when you apply, not a true prequalify at all.

Re: Nerdwallet/Chase Prequalification

Most of the free CMS sites make their money by getting paid when you app a card through their site. Do not go by their recommendations. CK keeps telling me I’m a great fit for the Citi DC but when I’ve looked at the Citi prequal there is no offer, and I know my scores are not in Citi territory anyhow. If you want to know about qualifying for a card, do it through that issuer’s site. Don’t trust a 3rd party site that doesn’t examine the whole of your report.

IIRC Citi pulls EX and/or EQ normally, and NerdWallet watches TU. Let that be a sign.

Re: Nerdwallet/Chase Prequalification

They peddle cards, so pay no attention to that. That's why it's a free website, just like CK. Nerd wallet gets commercial referral fee, whether your're approved or not, so their job is to entice you to apply using the link on their website

As far as Chase goes, with decent and (relatively) aged profile,  if you're under 5/24, cold app is perfectly fine. You do not need prequal and prequal does not mean that you'd get approved anyway.

If you're interested in their cards, there is only one way to find out. It's just a HP (or two).

Re: Nerdwallet/Chase Prequalification

It's weird because I had to give nerdwallet my social, birthday, etc. so it seemed like they did a soft pull to prequalify me... oh well

Re: Nerdwallet/Chase Prequalification

For what its worth I never could get anything from the Chase Pre qualification site either.  I read another post on here that steared me toward the Chase Credit Journey as an alternate source of offers.  (https://www.chase.creditviewdashboard.com/CreditView/login.page?enterprise=ChaseBankNA).  Not sure if its needed or not but it was enough to get me to apply and get approved with a nice SL.

Good Luck.

@CreditSage I've removed the link since it was to a file on your computer's desktop, meaning it would work for you but not for anybody else.
