Never heard of that CU humu. Is it open membership? If this is the one I'm thinking of, it's the CU associated with the Texas Longhorns.
i apped to join last year and was pended for verification. They wanted me to come into a branch.
I live about an hour and half away from the nearest so I didn't bother.
Thanks for the heads up woodyman. I hope this isn't a "thing" that all applicants have to go to a branch to show id.

If it helps, baller4, there are a several different posts on the board here about UFCU and you don't have to go into a branch:

Turns out you do not have to be a member to apply for a credit card. I applied on Tuesday. Got a call from a loan officer today. I was declined for "too many new accounts". I tried to attempt a recon based on my rebuilding and trying to replace a few of my high interest cards with lower interest cards. No dice. I don't know which version they use but they pulled EXP. My Fico 8 according to CCT right now is 673.

UFCU requires 720 on EX for their top rate. I know - I'm a customer with them.

I don't have experience with BK but I got my first card with them.
They used to pull EQ and looked for a mid-600 score for good credit. I don't know for sure their current credit critieria but they are a very nice CU.

I'm 2 years post BK. I applied for credit with them and was denied because of the BK.
This year I was approved for a $7k signature loan with UFCU and last week my card went from $4k to $14k. If you join, treat them well and they will return the favor.

Ok thanks a bunch humu. Although I went to A & M, I've been a Longhorn fan since I was a kid. This would be a really cool CU for me to join! 😃
You're welcome, baller4 and I think you should go for it! You are the credit union queen and have some very solid credit union relationships.

Never heard of that CU humu. Is it open membership? It is open as long as you donate $20 to the Texas Longhorns organization, I checked with them. No need to be a resident of Texas.
It originally was for university employees and their families, but has been expanded to include anyone who donates the $20.
So humu, you don't have to join at all if you just want the cc. 😉

You do have to have an active checking account according to what it says when you go to apply
