Just playing the waiting game works with Chase. It took over three weeks to get approval for my United Explorer card. In fact, I actually forgot I had applied. Then a call for verification and a 15k approval. I had burned Chase in my Chapter 13 in 2008 so it was an awesome surprise. I know it's hard, but just be patient.
I applied for Chase Disney and got the 14 day message so I figured it was a denial and never bothered to fellow up on it until about 30 days later I seen a new Disney account with a 3k limit. Good luck hope you get it.
I applied for a CSP last week. I was waiting on it but the 50k offer got me. I got the 7-10 days message. I called the backdoor number the next day and they informed me my application was in the "Verification department". I was given a number to call that. After some simple questions to confirm it was me that applied, I was approved for $24k.
So you may have to call and speak to a person to find out rather than wait it out if you wanna know quicker.
I'm still waiting too... I just applied today.
I called the automated number and it said 2 weeks. Maybe I'll get lucky like some of you and have the status change this week.
We never called.....finally got a letter today that they needed to verify identity.
She called in and answered a few questions and bam!
Approved $12k.
She's so happy and I'm happy for her.
Now that we have that behind us she can go after some others ......
This is what's on her list of desired cards in order
Freedom (pre-approved)
Discover (pre-selected)
United
Arrival + (pre-qualified)
Maybe
Double Cash (pre-qualified)
Quicksilver (pre-qualified)
Venture
That's more than she'll ever need.
Congrats!
Went ahead and tried for the pre approved Freedom but she got the "need more time to review". 7-10 day.
we'll wait it out again.
I went ahead and applied for the CSP on the night of 12/01. I got the dreaded 7-10 day message. This, of course, just before I found the 5/24 rule. While I'm not sure if I broke that rule or not, my application is still pending. I just called the automated number as suggested in this thread and got the 30-day message. I already have a Chase Marriott Rewards and and IHG Rewards card that are both paid off. I would like to extend my relationship with Chase with an awesome travel card. I'll see where it goes.
After reading these forums for a few hours, there really is no rhyme or reason to approvals and denials. And it sounds like a phone call can change decisions. I think that is a good thing. I think nothing like this should be left to pure numbers. Everyone's situation is different and should be considered as such.
