So I just applied for a membership to SDFCU and simultaneously applied for their secured CC. I entered all the info, requested a 400$ limit and input my banking info to secure my 400$ deposit.
Everything goes thru and I get confirmation my application is complete and had been “referred” to UW I suppose for final approval. OK. I go to check the status online since some institutions update with auto declines instantly but to my dismay, I see an “INSTANT APPROVED” next to my CC application. “Credit limit 2000$”!. Yeah ummmm NO WAY! lol The status of the credit union membership app still says “pending”. Anyone have any idea what’s going on? Thanks

SDFCU normally does a manual review of your CC apps. You'd be one of the first I've seen get a instant approval. They are normally very conservative. They denied me a few years ago, but every year since, they send me prequalified $4500 checks to cash twice a year. Makes absolutely no sense to me. lol
Maybe things are changing at SDFCU..though I doubt it. lol
I'm guessing they've lost a ton of revenue with that UW they had in charge. Honestly I don't know how they make any money being so strict?

Yeah that's how they bring up your hopes and then shoot them down. lol
The only product they give rock solid approvals on are those SP cashable checks.
Yeah , it’s safe to assume there will be a manual review (as you previously mentioned), with a decline soon to follow lol I’m still confused as to how this happened in the first place. I guess I’ll find out more sometime this week if they actually process the app soon. I’d be over the moon if I got it but realistically there’s no way.

Well you never now. The Gods may be shining down upon you this time!
Best of luck, hopefully with the holiday spending approaching, they'll be a little more aggressive like other banking institutions with approvals.
