Just also bear in mind that this quickly kills AAoA, oftern for very small CLs.   See many posts from here of people regretting overuse of the shopping cart trick.

I agree...

I don't see a single retailer than I'd shop at... other than VS for the girlfriend... LOL

I don't invest much in store cards...  I have a Best Buy, Walmart and Nordstrom... and expect all to be upgraded to MC/VISA sometime in 2015. Even if I were in beginning rebuild mode like I was 18 months ago I wouldn't go app crazy for toy limit store cards.

Re: SHOPPING CART TRICK TOO EASY!!!

I think Comenity is a great thing.  I have 7 of their cards.  2 have Visas, two have Mastercards.  HSN, Overstock and J. Crew are store cards only.  I began with 5 student loans reporting for 14 years.  When those 5 loans go away forever, I would have begun at 0 years and 0 months  AAoA.  Now I have 8 credit cards that will only age for at least 10 years.  My credit score did not take a hit whatsoever, except for a Barclays Rewards MC in the very beginning.  If I add a new card once a year my AAoA will not hardly budge.  I am projected to surpass the 800 credit mark across my FICO scores around March 2015.

To each his own.  Everyone's story is different.  You can't go much higher on a credit score whether you have a Centurion card or a J. Crew card.

It's all about the credit score and your ability to pay for the credit you currently have or desire to have.  The people who can't handle credit don't need it anyway.

Re: SHOPPING CART TRICK TOO EASY!!!

I don't get it. Why do this for low limit CC's if you have much higher, better CC's already? I must be missing something..

Re: SHOPPING CART TRICK TOO EASY!!!

Thought of getting a store/gas card.. but want one that would be used frequently, only one that shows a bit of utility from Comenty in the shopping card game is Sportsmans.. But DAAAMN it is SAFETY orange... doesn't mean it couldnt be an appealing card however... One of my parents used to have an early Lechmere credit card/chargeplate in a similar color but only had (i think) a 7 digit account number, similar to this http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-PRINCESS-RETAIL-CREDIT-CHARGE-CARD-LECHMERE-SALES-C1540-/15149386282...

.Remember her using it one time and the cashier was like.. How do i use this... No magnetic stripe!... called down.. Someone in a suit came from the back... apologized profusely to my mother at the time.. showed the guy the key sequence on the IBM register.. And handed my mother his buisness card.. And if she needed anything, to please call him directly... Never saw that kind of CS, except at Jordan Marsh... Believe it or not it was rare for a woman to have a charge plate in HER name years ago.. yes credit was sexist too... and she isnt wealthy... Doesn't get treated like that in this day and age but it is interesting how credit has changed over the years.. and what it signifys and what it does NOT...Heh.. They used to use addressographs and the infamous phonebook type validity books and calling in an authorization...
