Not impossible happens alot if you read all these stories on getting hps after only putting in the last 4. The science i do not know how but i believe it does happen

My DH got a HP from a well-known home security company. He just called in to ask for pricing. Only gave his/our address and, voila, HP on EX.
Sorry you received a HP you weren't expecting. I now just expect them for any app. I went through a SCT phase (9 cards over a few months) when I started my rebuild. I was lucky enough not to receive a HP. But if I were to do it all over again, like most people, I would limit the Comenity cards to just a couple. It's more than 2 years later and I only have 3 of them left open. I closed them all in favor of some heavy hitters with great benefits. Wayfair is still open with a $7.5K limit so no regrets there. I actually do shop there, like the merchandise as well as some of the benefits so it's open for now. But the next time I trim down the cards, it just might be on the chopping block too.
I hope you get some use out of the card to make it worth the HP ![]()

Ouch!!! I hope he disputes it. I received a HP from US Bank when the person over the phone told me there would be NONE. After getting the HP, I called them back and spoke with a supervisor who opened an investigation since the call was recorded. I received a letter a couple of weeks later stating they would remove the HP as the information I was given over the phone was wrong.
Sorry you got a hard pull. I didn't get hard pulls when I opened my 3 comenity store cards earlier this year. Though I got them on the frist credit line increase request. I wouldn'nt put so much thought into hard pulls. People say Citi is hard pull sensitive and I applied for one of their cards and had 9 hard pulls in last 6 months and got approved.
Hard Pulls don't effect your score much and the little they effect fades quickly. For example, I went from 8 to 10 pulls on Experian and my score stayed the same.
@Anonymous wrote:If it said you were pre-approved it would have been a SP more than likely, but if it was just a pop up asking you to apply then it would have been a HP. Did it specifically say you were pre-approved?
Exactly. The verbiage that the OP used was "a pop up asking me to apply," so that tells you what you need to know. If it were the SCT, you would have gotten a pop-up stating you were already approved (sometimes up to a certain amount) and just need to finalize your information.

How were you able to go from $350CL to $29.5k? I obviously need to learn tricks from you!
I can't get a SCT to work at any Comenity store!

I'm glad you were able to get yours removed. He did call the company. They said they would remove it, but never did. Still thinking of having him file a dispute with the CRA.

Thats because your scores are below the minimums needed to activate it...
The other possibility is Comenity has extended you credit already and doesn't want to extend more...

I was pre-approved for 2 MC's within a week, bothwere SP's. They canceled them both, I did it again and got a $7000 MC, SP, looks like I am in the clear this time. SO it is not BS.
