Hey everyone? I have a question. I got my first card (amex) last month. I have basically no credit history. I am trying to build my credit and I plan on applying for a card or two in novemeber. Should I apply for another card to help establish and build credit or should I not until November? What would look better? Thanks!
My only history besides the amex is 6 months as an AU on my dads card. I have no prequals anywhere. My FICO score via amex app says 704
If you're going to apply for a new one, make sure you get the one that benefits you most depending on your spending. Since you just got recently a new card, yeah do it on November, or if you can do it next year. Better chances to get approved.
Its fine to space this out to November(or next year). The Amex will get you some history. Also, you will hopefully check out MF to see what are happening to some of the cards you are eyeing. No your spend per year and only get cards you will actually use when the time comes.
IF anything now, I would look at Discover secured. That will give you two to grow with and build history.
In time, they will unsecure it, and you can look at more cards to maybe add and develop a plan for building your profile as the Amex and Disco age for a year or so.
Cancel them all and start over.
Sorry, just kidding. Please don't do that.
I wouldn't have thought AMEX would give someone with no history a card

Wait until November.
Agree on waiting, you don't want to look credit hungry when you are just starting out. Use that Amex wisely for a little while and you'll have more options for your next card instead of sweating the approval.
Can you tell us what Amex you were approved for? Also, your 700 credit score seems pretty good for not having prior credit cards. Do you have other credit history like a past auto loan?
