They probably want paycheck stubs. Too late to call now. PenFed is very easy to work with.

Ok, awesome. I'll try calling back tomorrow. I'm still within the 90 days from my last app and it's the first time I've done this so I'm trying to be careful. I was surprised all they gave me was $5000 to $7500, so I'm really hoping they'll bump me into a 5-figure SL.

Re: Some Penfed help, please?

You'll get it. I apped for my first card with them and was given $14k surprisingly. I called to ask if I could move some of that limit to a different card two weeks later. Instead they just gave me the other card with a identical limit. Lol
Now I'm moving that limit back to the original card. They will allow you to distribute your limits to other cards without complications. I just called them this morning. Figured I'd take advantage of a fresh pull from an auto loan last week

Wow, that's pretty cool! I didn't know they did that. I would app for another card but don't want another new account on my credit...even though I am considering one of their PLOCs while I'm within my 90-day window. Decisions decisions lol. If only I knew there were decent odds they'd give me the $25k on the PLOC I'd do it, otherwise it's not really worth it for me.

Re: Some Penfed help, please?

Funny you mentioned the PLOC. I started to ask for the Ploc and just move a portion of my limit and close other card. After talking to CSR I chickened out and told him just consolidate limts into one card making it my highest limit card at $28k.The max unsecured credit you can have with them is $50,000.

Re: Some Penfed help, please?

Oh wow, well I'd still be happy to get $25k on a CC with them and then $25k on the ploc but unless they start giving me better CLIs I'm not sure that's happening anytime soon lol. I originally apped with them cuz I was shopping for an auto loan but ultimately got a better rate at DCU. I like that penfed almost always has 0% BT promos going on, but it'd be nice to have enough of a CL to actually take advantage of it. I guess I'll wait and see how this CLI goes with them and then maybe can app for the ploc in 30 days or so if all goes well.

Re: Some Penfed help, please?

I nearly apped with DCU, but decided I didn't want double pulls. The rate was only .25% apart. So I decided to stick with PenFed.

If you wanted a mega limit from the start. You should apply for membership with NASA FCU and then app for CC after membership approved. It's been a SP on EX for most folks. They gave me a $25k SL. Their promotional checks linked to the card are pretty cool!

Re: Some Penfed help, please?

Even new membership with NASA is an SP? I'm hoping NFCU will finally give me a CLI in June and I won't need to go elsewhere for a $25k+ CL.

DCU was like 1.5% lower for me than penfed, plus they'd do 72 months when penfed only wanted 60. It's funny cuz they still wouldn't give me a CC despite that they'd give me an auto loan lol but whatever. It's cool cuz now they also decrease my APR on the auto loan by 0.25% every 3 months I make payments on time, so I can pay my loan down faster. Works for me! I still want to refi it since my credit has gotten way better since I got the car but I don't really want another HP for it

Re: Some Penfed help, please?

Yes it was one SP for membership and CC with NASA. Some members here got both CC and PLOC ($50k total)with that one SP.

Wow.. yeah that's a big difference on the auto rate! I planned to use PenFed's car buying service which cuts the rate to 1.49. It just so happened the dealer that gave me the best deal wasn't a true car certified dealership.

The next best rate was 1.99% for 60 months. Which I accepted.

Re: Some Penfed help, please?

Wow that's pretty tempting. I hate the idea of yet another obscure bank/CU lol but $50k might be worth it. I've gotten so much new credit in the last 30 days I know I really don't need anymore but such is life of a credit addict hahaha

LMAO..yeah I know how it is. I want to request a cli from NFCU as well. Though I'm afraid of a HP without the increase. Those obscure CU's pay off big time! lol I'll never let a major bank hold my funds again. I get way more return through some of those obscure CU's. And yeah..I didn't need anymore when I apped with NASA. Getting a nice no transfer fee card with a SP was more tempting than I could stand.
